Harrison Ford is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. With a career spanning over five decades, over 50 movies and a box office of over $6 billion worldwide, it is not so hard to see why he is big among actors across the world. Harrison started with Television in 1967 before he got his big break in movies with his portrayal of Hans Solo in Star Wars. He has acted many characters with ease and is one of the greatest actors of all time. Here are some Harrison Ford movies you should really see.

1. Star Wars (1977)

In this movie, Ford played the lead character of Hans Solo. The movie tells the story of a boy, a girl, and universe, a sprawling saga of rebellion. The story explores the galaxy wars, the story of how a smuggler called Han solo teams up with Luke Skywalker and some other characters in order to save the galaxy from impending doom and save Princess Leia.

2. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

This is the first Indiana Jones movie and it follows Indiana Jones, an archaeologist who wards off the Nazis while looking for the ark of the covenant. The film had its setting during World War II which explains the Nazi part and was one of the movies that shot Harrison Ford to ultimate stardom. It was also the highest grossing movie of 1981 as it was made on a budget of $18m and it grossed $390m.

3. Blade Runner (1982)

The movie is set in 2019 Los Angeles (spooky right?) which is now super advanced in terms of science, Technology, and population.

Rick Deckard played by Harrison Ford is called from retirement by his former boss to kill some clones known as Replicants that have escaped the colonies in space and are now hiding in the metropolis. Decker would meet Tyrell, the designer and producer of these replicants in order to acquire the knowledge on how to differentiate replicants.

4. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom (1984)

This Harrison Ford movie is the second movie in the Indiana Jones franchise and it follows Indiana Jones as he seeks to find the five stones of Sankara and also rescue some children from a slave cult in Northern India.

5. Witness (1985)

This thriller is one of Harrison Ford movies, with its plot centered around an upright Police detective John Books (Harrison Ford) who has to protect a widow and her son who was a witness to a murder case. The boy has seen the murder of a police officer and Books is given the job of investigating the case.

The boy named Samuel has the vital information that powerful people within the police force don’t want to be revealed and so Books must protect Samuel and his widow mother at all cost.

6. The Mosquito Coast (1986)

Based on a book with the same name by Paul Theroux, it explores the life of an American inventor named Allie Fox played by Harrison Ford who is disillusioned by the capitalism and consumerism in the United States. He creates a machine that can create Ice but it doesn’t impress his boss. He gets information from immigrants that Ice would be appreciated in their homeland and he decided to move his family down to the Central America jungle. The place at first was a paradise for Allie and his family but soon becomes sour for them with each passing day and event. In 1986, this movie earned him his second Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama.

7. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

If there are two names that come to mind when you mention Harrison Ford, it is Indiana Jones of Indiana Jones and Hans Solo of Star Wars series. Indiana Jones and the last crusade was the third movie of the Indiana Jones franchise. The Movie follows how Indiana Jones receives a letter about his father’s disappearance and how he has to follow several clues in order to rescue his father and guard the holy grail against being taken by people who would use it to destroy the world.

8. Presumed Innocent (1990)

The story revolves around a dead lady and a police officer called Rusty (Ford) who is trying to solve her murder case. Rusty is thrown into a dilemma on how to solve the case as he had once had an affair with the woman but she dumped him for being unambitious.

The story then goes on to reveal a case of so many people who in one way or the other had some form of connection with the murder. In the end, the most unlikely of twist happens and it was discovered that Rusty’s wife had killed the deceased because of his adulterous adventure with her.

9. Patriot Games (1992)

The Jack Ryan played by Ford is a former CIA agent that has taken his family on vacation to London. He witnesses the assassination attempt on one of UK ministers and helps out. In the process, he kills one of the assailants while the elder brother of the assailant who is also a member of the terrorist group looks on.

Jack returns to the United States only to discover that he is being followed and that his family has been attacked. He takes up his former CIA job having rejected it earlier, tracks down the person behind his family’s attack only to discover that it was the elder brother of the man he had killed in London. Jack must find a way to protect his family and also stop the terrorist who is hell-bent on revenge.

10. The Fugitive (1993)

Harrison Ford plays Chicago-based surgeon Richard Kimble in this Action Thriller. Kimble comes home one evening to find his wife has been murdered. He spots the murderer and gets in a big fight with him but the assailant manages to escape. Kimble is then arrested and tried for the murder of his wife.

He does all he can to convince the police and the court that he is not guilty but every evidence points at him being the killer and he is sentenced to death. On the way to prison, other prisoners in his bus stage an escape and fate smiles on Kimble as they succeed. He now has to find the killer of his wife to prove his innocence while avoiding a team of cops chasing him. He got a Golden Globe and MTV Movie Awards nominations with his performance in this movie.

11. Sabrina (1995)

Being the child of the Larabee’s family Chauffeur, Sabrina (Julia Ormond) has always loved the younger son of her father’s employer David (Greg Kinnear) but David has often been oblivious of her, being a playboy. Sabrina then leaves for Paris to learn fashion and returns very much attractive and pretty. This time, David takes note of her and seems interested but he is engaged to Elizabeth.

Knowing that it might cost the family in terms of a merger worth billions of dollars if David drops his engagement with Elizabeth for Sabrina, while David’s Elder brother Linus (Ford) tries to capture the attention of Sabrina and make her fall in love with him which works perfectly.

12. Air Force One (1997)

The political thriller explores the triangle between Russia and America and how it can work together sometimes to achieve a goal. The United States president John Marshall played by Ford visits Russia to celebrate the victory with the Russian President only for his plane to be hijacked on his way back to Washington by some terrorist. The President must find a way to save his family, find the mole within his party of aides and save an impending world catastrophe. For his role in the movie, Ford was nominated for Best Fight at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards.

13. Enders Game (2013)

This movie is one of those Harrison Ford movies that he took up supporting roles. The movie is based on a novel with the same name by Orson Scott Card which was published in 1985. The movie is set in the future where Earth is attacked half a century earlier by a group of alien species known to mankind as Formics. Earth and mankind are saved by the heroic act of Mazer Rackham who has driven his aircraft into the Queen’s ship and lost his life in the process.

A cadet named Ender has come under the scrutiny of Colonel Hyrum Graff played by Ford because of his score in simulated space game fashioned for the young cadets. Enders is touted as the commandant to defeat the Formics once and for all because of his superior tactical battle knowledge.

14. Age of Adaline (2015)

Age of Adaline is among Harrison Ford movies where he got a supporting role, it follows the life of a woman () who has been brought back to life on the night of her death several decades ago. Thirty years later, in the ’70s, She would fall in love with William Jones (Harrison Ford) but would ditch him as she doesn’t know how to tell him about her condition.

Several decades later, in the present day, she meets Ellis (Michiel Huisman) who likes her but she turns down initially but being a persistent person, Ellis who is the son of William is able to get her attention.

Harrison Ford reprised the role that made him popular in Han Solo. Being one of the latest Harrison Ford Movies, it has its setting thirty years after the popular intergalactic wars. The movie basically follows how Finn, Rey, the android BB8, Chewbacca, and Han solo would meet and how Hans solo would convince Keylo Ren as to leave the dark side.
