Music has various forms and one of them is rap. Rap is made up of rhymes and street vernacular mostly done over an instrumental background track. Records hold that 6ix9ine who is also known as Tekashi69 was born as Daniel Hernandez in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York on the 8th of May 1996. His father was originally from Puerto Rico and his mother from Atlixco in Mexico. He was raised along with his brother (and only sibling) by both parents until his father’s murder in 2009. This changed things for the family and Daniel had to step in by doing several jobs and even selling cannabis so they could survive. He was expelled from school in his 8th grade and never went back.
In 2014, he began his rap career by making and releasing several songs. His rap was aggressive and he used anime as the visuals of his videos. These drew some attention his way but not enough to make him a hit. 6ix9ine is also known as the rapper with multi-colored hair and plated grills. The Slovakian music label, FCK THEM was behind the release of most of his beginning songs.
His rap name is 6ix9ine, a clear deviation from his birth name, Daniel. He says 69 actually shows that there are different perspectives of a thing depending on how you look at it. 6ix9ine used social media platforms to advance his rap career and is quite active on a good number of them. On Facebook, he is known as Tekashi 6ix9ine and he has over a million likes and even more followers. His bio on Twitter says he is the ‘king of New York’ and he has over 349,000 followers. The rapper has a whopping 14.6 million followers on Instagram and more than 4.8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. As good as these seem, the truth is he hasn’t always been this popular.
Fame came for Tekashi69 in 2017 when a July picture he posted on Instagram became an internet meme. In this picture, he was on his signature rainbow hair, grill and 69 was tattooed on several parts of his body. He became even more famous when his first ever commercial single titled Gummo hit the airwaves in November 2017. The song made the US Billboard Hot 100 at spot 12 and in March 2018, was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as platinum. It currently has over 80 million views on YouTube. Kooda and Keke were his second and third commercial singles released on 23rd December 2017 and 14th January 2018, respectively.
6ix9ine released his first mixtape titled Day69 on 23rd February 2018. Two songs from the tape, Billy and Rondo made the Billboard Hot 100. He also released Gotti in April and it made six consecutive entries on Hot 100. In July, he featured and Murda Beatz in his song, Fefe which went on to make number four and then number three on Hot 100. His next song is expected later in October as hinted on a video he posted but deleted on Instagram. He had a World Domination European Tour in 13 cities from June 15 to July 6.
Hernandez has faced a number of legal issues including a felony count for child sexual molestation in 2015. The case has been in court and sentencing is expected to occur on the 26th of October 2018 and he faces a likely 3-year prison term and sex offender registration. He has also been in a number of feuds with rappers like who was allegedly shot at in New York City on 2nd June. 6ix9ine is under investigation for the shooting although he was in Los Angeles during the time of the shooting. He was kidnapped, beaten and stolen from on 22nd July just after filming Fefe.
Interestingly, he hinted on Instagram in April that he might quit rapping this year (2018) as he has achieved his goals already. Let’s watch and see.

The rapper’s net worth has been quoted differently by different sources ranging from $500,000 to $4 million and even $7.5 million. While we are not certain of any figure, we do know that he should be worth a lot due to his seeming success.

Daniel has a baby mama named Sara. She was his long-term girlfriend even before he got famous. They have a daughter together named Saraiyah.
He also allegedly has another girlfriend named Leezah who is a stripper at a gentleman’s club in New York named Starlet. She is from the Dominican Republic and it is said that he went on a trip with her to her home country and even met her family.
Is He Gay?
6ix9ine was accused by fellow rapper, of being gay following a feud they had. He went further by circulating sex videos of Apache Blu, a gay porn star whom he claimed was truly Hernandez. It was later proved that the rapper and the porn star are two different persons.
