A well-decorated athlete, British competitive swimmer, Adam Peaty took the international swimming scene by storm in 2014, setting a World Record in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 26.62 seconds the same year. He also won four gold medals at the LEN European Aquatics Championships, three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and was nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
The swimmer who specialises in the breaststroke has raised the Great Britain flag high at various competitions. From the Olympic Games to FINA World Championships, as well as European Championships, he has really made his country proud. Peaty took the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke at the 2016 Olympics, making history as the first British Male Swimmer in 24 years to achieve the milestone. This is in addition to the world record he holds in 50 and 100m breaststroke.
His talent secured him a spot among great swimmers like David Wilkie and Rebecca Adlington as one of only three British swimmers to have won gold medals at all four major international events – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth Games. Additionally, he is the only swimmer to win all four major gold medals in the same single event at once. He achieved this feat by winning the 100 metres breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
For someone who was very scared of water as a young boy, Adam Peaty is a good example of what it means to beat the odds.
Background Information on Adam Peaty
The professional swimmer was born as the youngest of four children to his parents Mark and Caroline Peaty on 28 December 1994 in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Adam got his education at Painsley Catholic College and Derby College respectively.
At the age of nine, Peaty joined Dove Valley Swimming Club in his place of birth. He won many races and by the time he turned twelve, he was setting club records. Nonetheless, it wasn’t until he turned seventeen that he started taking swimming seriously. The decision was inspired by an article he read that Craig Benson, a name he recognised from his junior circuit, made the semi-final of the 100m breaststroke at the 2012 London Olympics. That decision appears to be the right one for Adam Peaty who has been making great waves in the international sphere with his performances. He has achieved a lot under the tutelage of former Olympic swimmer Melanie Marshall who wasn’t so impressed with his performance when they first met but later saw something special in him.
Peaty has done a good job defending his titles so far. He retained his 100-metre breaststroke title with a championship record of 57.47 seconds at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Aside from breaking his own records in the 50-metres breaststroke twice, Adam Peaty defended his title with another sub-26 time of 25.99 seconds and completed another double at the World Championship. He equally set a new British record, winning a silver in the 4 × 100 m medley relay at the World Championship.
Again, the renowned swimmer defended his 100-metre breaststroke title at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He wrapped things up in a Games record time of 58.84 seconds. Adam Peaty is a proud receiver of an MBE from the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace, an award he received for making the country proud in the world of sports.
Height and Body Measurements
The talented swimmer has a body to die for with the muscles and contours in the right places. He stands tall at 1.88 m and weighs a comfortable 96 kg. He has dark blond hair and blue eyes to complement his great body endowments.
Who Is Adam Peaty’s Girlfriend, Is He Gay?
For the most part, the world acclaimed swimmer is not in any known relationship. Apparently, this raises a lot of eyebrows, causing speculations about his sexual orientation. However, being single does not mean one is gay until of course, they say so. As far as we know, the swimmer is straight but is not dating at the moment. Perhaps he wants to dedicate his younger years to building a career that will not be forgotten easily.
However, we do hope he finds love in the arms of the right person whenever he is ready to mingle.
