Although his full name is Thomas Jefferson Morris, he is known more commonly now as Sodapoppin – an online alias that he gave himself. He was in Austin, Texas, the USA where he lived with his parents and seven siblings before moving to Michigan.
Chance Morris is the youngest in his family although there are reports that some of his seven siblings were adopted. Chance Morris finished his high school in Texas and has been described as a brilliant student who excelled in almost all subjects. He went on to enroll at Texas University but dropped out in order to pursue a career in gaming.
Morris started off by posting videos related to particular games before moving on to posting commentary videos on all kinds of Xbox games. He grew an audience base on Twitch to over a million followers and has over 750,000 followers on YouTube where he moved to in 2012. The YouTube Channel is named Sodapoppin and the type of content found there range from pranks, gaming, challenges and comedy videos.
He had always had a passion for gaming and used to spend a large chunk of time playing Xbox games. The passion only increased with time and so, after joining junior college, he attempted to turn it into a career. He followed the advice of friends who turned him towards YouTube and Sodapoppin was born out of the need to sound appealing and exciting. His first video went up in 2012 and featured him playing a popular game called ‘Amnesia 2.’
The fun project which he created soon became quite popular and within a year he had acquired an impressive amount of followers. He soon moved to Michigan and his social media career received a major boost. He expanded his horizons from ‘World of Warcraft’ which he started with to playing games of different genres. He soon became a popular player on Twitch and also created a community there. As the community on Twitch grew, so did his channel.
He may have found a more free rein on YouTube as he has been banned severally from Twitch for illegal activities and even posting obscene content while on the live streaming video platform. Morris later got involved in online gambling in 2014 and 2015. He streamed live while blackjack gambling on casino websites. He alternated between winning and losing thousands of dollars. In fact, in May 2015, he lost $5000 on one hand with over 40,000 viewers watching him.

Now living away from his family in Texas, Chance Morris’ allusion to family life seems to be with his two dogs; a German Shepherd named Buddy and another dog named Kevin. He often posts videos about his dogs on his social media accounts.
