Chris Eubank Jr is a young professional boxer who is walking in his father’s footsteps. He was successful in this forte and has had two prestigious titles so far; he was the WBA interim and British middleweight champion between 2015 and 2016 and also became the IBO super-middleweight champion and reigned for a year – from 2017 to 2018. He is the son of five-year world boxing champion Christopher Eubank Sr.

Chris Eubank Jr’s Bio

Chris was born Christopher Livingstone Eubank Jr in Hove, East Sussex, England. He is one of the four sons of Chris Eubank Sr and his ex-wife, Karron Suzanne Stephen Martin. Chris Eubank Jr attended Brighton College for his high school education, however, nothing is known of his university education.

At the age of 16, Chris and one of his brothers, Sebastian moved to the United States to live with a guardian named Irene Hutton. This arrangement his mother explained, was mere paperwork to enable her sons to gain dual citizenship and secure a better boxing prospect.

Chris Jr went on to make a career out of boxing and like every boxer, Chris began with amateur boxing in 2007 and won his 6th amateur fight to clinch the Amateur Golden Glove Championship for the State of Nevada in his weight division of 165 lb. He won another Amateur Golden Glove Championship for the Western states of the U.S with his eight amateur fight in his weight division. His amateur career ended with an impressive record of 24 wins and only 2 losses.

He turned professional in 2011 and signed on Mick Hennessy as his promoter. He was mentored by his father and also by his trainer, Ronnie Davies. Over the next three years, after he turned professional, he had 18 wins, 13 of which were by knockouts. Chris Eubank had a victorious debut match against Alistar Warren on 22 February 2014 at the York Hall in London. The British boxer had his next fight against the Hungarian boxer, Sandor Micsko at the Copper Box Arena also in London. Chris performed well in a number of rounds in this fight; however, the referee waved off the fight.

After these, he added to his number of wins but conceded a loss at the Excel Arena in a fight against on Saturday 29 November 2014. In the first 6 rounds, Saunders had the advantage point with his domineering punches, however, from the seventh round, Chris woke up and took control. Chris Eubank Jr would, however, go on to lose the fight by a very narrow margin after the 12th round with 115-114, 115-113 and 113-116. There were speculations that he lost the match because of nervousness and stage fright because it was the first major title bout of his professional career.

One of the highlights of his career was a fight against the undefeated Russian boxer and WBA interim middleweight champion, Dmitry Chudinor. On February 28, 2015, Chris wrestled Chudinor and trounced him to clinch the WBA interim middleweight title. After this win, he asked for a redemption match with Saunders, whether this request was granted is not known.

After the aforementioned bout, 2015 was mostly an idle year for the British boxer, however, he utilized this opportunity to sign a new promoter, under Matchroom sports banner. Under Hearn, he had his first bout against American boxer, Tony Jeter, alongside making his debut on Sky Sports on 24 October 2015. He defeated Jeter but was stripped of his interim WBA middleweight title due to his inactivity since winning it.

He had other successful matches in his middleweight division such as those against O’ Sullivan, Blackwell, and Tom Doran. In the Super-middleweight category, Chris Eubank Jr also had good years and recorded successes such as winning the IBO Super middleweight title. He defeated Renold Quintan and former multiple weight champion Arthur Abraham. Altogether, Chris Eubank Jr has had 29 fights, won 27 of his fights: 21 by knockouts and 6 by decision. He has lost only two fights in all his professional career.

Family Life of the Boxer

Chris Eubank Jr is the son of famous boxer Christopher Eubank Sr. who was also his mentor at the early stages of his career. His half-brother is also a boxer. His parents eventually got divorced in 2005 and his father went ahead to marry Claire Geary.

Eubank Jr is unmarried but is in a relationship with Vicky Pattison who is an English television and media personality. Vicky is best known for appearing in the MTV show Georgia.
