D’Onta Foreman is a professional NFL player who currently plays as a running back  Houston Texans. Foreman has been playing football since high school. As high students, D’Onta and his twin brother, Armanti, were both named co-Most Valuable Players of District 24-4A.

After high school, D’Onta signed to play college football at Texas, after a successful 2016 season, he opted to forgo his senior season to pursue an NFL career.  During his college career, he earned the Doak Walker Award for being the country’s top running back, he also earned the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for an outstanding 2016 season.

Foreman was born in the Texas City of Texas on the 24th of April 1996. He was born a twin and thus, not the only child of his parents. His father’s name is Derrick Foreman,  their mother’s Shawn Smith. His twin brother Armanti Foreman, also plays football. He played college football at Texas as a wide receiver.

D’Onta began playing football right from his days at Texas City High School. He played with his high school team as both a running back and as a defensive end. During his high school career, he rushed for 4,382 yards with sixty-one touchdowns – this included 2,102 yards and thirty-one touchdowns as a senior. He won consensus All-American honors and also the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s best running back.

The Houston Chronicle named him one of the top 100 players in the Houston area, he was ranked the nation’s 67th best running back and 247Sports also ranked him the 125th best player in the state of Texas. Scout also ranked him the 68th best running back in the country while ESPN ranked the 74th. The Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine named him 6th best athlete recruit.

Leaving high school, D’Onta Foreman committed himself to play college football at the University of Texas at Austin. As a freshman, he appeared in 7 games recording fifteen rushes for 73 yards. During his sophomore year, he appeared in 10 games, missing just two due to injury but would still end that season with 95 rushes for 681 yards and 5 touchdowns.

D’Onta Foreman would start his junior season as Longhorns’ starting running back and passed the 1,000 rushing yards to become Texas back after Jamaal Charles (2007), to set such record. He finished that season with a total of 2,028 rushing yards and fifteen rushing touchdowns. Foreman would later announce at the end of the season that he will be forgoing his senior season enter for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Professional Career

Houston Texans selected him 89th overall in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft and he the 7th back to be drafted in 2017 NFL Draft. In June 2017, Texans signed Foreman to a 4-year contract worth $3.25 million, including $759,484 as signing bonus.

His first NFL game was against Jacksonville Jaguars, where he recorded one rush for 4 yards. He expanded his defensive role the following week in a game against Cincinnati Bengals with twelve rushes for forty yards.

Despite suffering a torn Achilles and being placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season, D’Onta Foreman finished his rookie season with a total of  327 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, 6 receptions, and 83 receiving yards.

D’Onta’s twin brother Armanti Foreman, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018.

Foreman became a member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2014, while still studying at Texas.

He was arrested back in 2017 for unlawfully carrying a weapon and possessing marijuana, he was taken into custody but was later released on bond.

The Texans running back is the founder of the D’Onta Foreman Family Foundation. The foundation is Foreman’s way of giving back to the community after dealing with the death of his son (infant death) back in 2016.

He is the proud father of a daughter named is Nike. His adorable daughter who was born in late 2017 was named after the Greek goddess of victory and not the multi-billion dollar shoe company, Nike.
