DeMarre Carroll’s Biography
He was born DeMarre LaEdrick Carroll on July 27 1986, in Birmingham, Alabama. He is of African-American ethnicity and has an American nationality. Carroll started at a very young age to show interest and attraction to the game of basketball. He attended John Carroll Catholic High School, Birmingham where he played for the school’s team. He led the team to Alabama Class 6A state titles. He was really a standout player on the team, averaging 17.8 points in his junior year, as well as 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in his senior years. Carroll earned himself wide recognition from All-State, All-Region, All-District and All-Metro platforms, as well as the title of MVP of 2004’s Alabama Class 6A State Tournament.
Carroll played for two years for the basketball team of Vanderbilt University. He had decided to make a move from the team to Missouri. DeMarre, in 2006, transferred to Missouri where he played for his uncle Mike Anderson, leading his team to great heights. He was selected as the 27th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2009 NBA draft. The following year, Demarre was assigned to Dakota Wizards but was recalled to the Grizzlies in January 2011. His next stint was with the Houston Rockets where he was moved to on trade. Demarre then played for the Denver Nuggets for a year and made appearances in four games during this time. After he was waived by the Nuggets in February 2012, he immediately signed with the Utah Jazz where he played for a year. In August 2013, Carroll was signed with the Atlanta Hawks where he played for two seasons and made really impressive records.
His next move was to Toronto Raptors where he signed a four-year contract of $60 million in 2015. After starting off with the Raptors in October 2015, he sustained a knee injury on December 7 that year and missed several subsequent games. Carroll managed the injury until January 2016 when he finally underwent surgery. He later returned to the court after missing 41 games. Carrol’s next stint was with Brooklyn Nets where he was traded to in exchange for Justin Hamilton.
