Dillian Whyte’s Bio, Age

Dillian Whyte was born on April 11, 1988, in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica. He was born to Jane Whyte, a nurse. Nothing is known about his father, only that his partiachal grandfather was Partrick Whyte who emigrated to Jamaica from his home town Dublin in Ireland.

The heavyweight boxer had a deprived childhood as he lacked basic comforts that a child should enjoy. He has many siblings whose identities are unknown. For his education, Dillian began going to school in England when his family moved as he recalls not having any in Jamaica.

When Dillian’s family moved to Brixton, London, he was 12 and joined a violent gang that turned his life for the worse. By the age of 16, he had been stabbed thrice, first at the age of 13, then at the age of 15, and lastly when he was 16.

Also, at this time, he had become a father of three children, two boys, and a girl. He had to grow up faster than he should after becoming a father at such a young age. He worked two jobs with some other hustles by the side to ensure he catered for his tender family.  The 6 foot, 4 inches tall athlete, admits that boxing saved his life because with the path he towed earlier, he would end up either behind bars or in a morgue.

Whyte began his career as a kickboxer, although the exact date is not documented. As a professional kickboxer, he became two-time British heavyweight kickboxing champion by claiming the BIKMA Super Heavyweight British Championship title. He was also ranked UK’s No 1 for five years in his weight category of 95kg and won the European K1 championship.

His blossoming career in kickboxing ended with a K-1 record of 20-1. Prior to this, on December 6, 2008, Dillian Whyte made his professional MMA debut at the Ultimate Challenge MMA, where he challenged and trounced Mark Stroud 12 seconds into the first round.

He returned to amateur boxing in 2009 where he defeated  by unanimous decision after 3 rounds. His amateur career was cut short following a dispute with ABA regarding his kickboxing background and so he turned professional in 2011, despite the disapproval of his trainers.

Barely a year into professional boxing, Dillian Whyte was banned in 2012 for using a stimulant drug called Methylhexaneamine (MHA). He was given a two-year ban, although he filed an appeal to establish that he didn’t purposely take the drugs. His appeal was accepted on that ground but rejected on the basis that he did not do enough to check to ascertain the contents and ingredients in the supplement he purchased, therefore the ban was not reduced. This was announced by the Chairman of the appeal tribunal at one of the appeals.

Prior to this, Whyte had had over 5 boxing matches, where he claimed victory in all. On October 12, 2014, the ban was lifted and he was back in the rings, better and stronger. After the ban, Dillian first fight was against Croatian boxer, Ante Verunica on 21 November 2014 at Camden Centre, Kings Cross, London. The match lasted two rounds with a stoppage when Dillian Whyte gave a hard shot that knocked Ante out.

Since then, he has gone on to enjoy an amazing career, winning all his fights except for one game against current IBO, WBA, Super IBF, and WBO heavyweight champion, Anthony AJ Joshua on  December 12, 2015. He combated AJ for the British heavyweight title in the O2 Arena in London and lost after a long match that lasted to the seventh round when Joshua gave Whyte a knockout uppercut. It was revealed that after this defeat, Dillian focused on eating and living right, training harder and improving himself.

According to Dillian’s professional boxing career record, he has had 26 professional matches, raking up 25 wins; 18 by knockouts and 7 by decision. His only loss so far came against Anthony Joshua in 2015.

Currently, Dillian Whyte also known as The Villian and The Body Snatcher is ranked eighth in the world and fourth in the UK at the heavyweight level. He also holds the WBC Silver heavyweight title and previously held the British heavyweight title from 2016-2017.
