The American actor played the most unlikely possible candidate for school president and was crucial to the success of the movie. Born Efrain Antonio Ramírez, the popular actor was welcomed on the 2nd of October, 1973 in Los Angeles, California, the United States. His parents raised him alongside his four brothers, including his identical twin brother named Carlos Ramirez. Ramirez is of Salvadoran and Mexican descent.
A natural performer, from an early age, Ramirez started showing the traits of a talented actor. As such, while he was in elementary school, his mother enrolled him in The Theatre of Arts at the age of 13 where his acting training began. He performed at The Hollywood Bowl, The Complex Theatre, and on Sunset Boulevard. After he started attending an all-boys high school, he continued his training at The Whole Theatre Company. At the time, Efren Ramirez also performed improv at The Whitefire Theatre as well as in The Icehouse in Pasadena.

His twin brother, Carlos Ramirez, is also a born performer. Carlos worked as a dance instructor in Nashville, Tennessee and was also highly involved in the Electronic dance music (EDM) Scene. Career
Efren Ramirez made his professional acting debut with a small role as a pizza boy in the 1994 sci-fi comedy, Tammy and the T-Rex. Two years later, he appeared in the musical fantasy-comedy film Kazaam and also marked his television debut. He was featured in a guest role in an episode of the series Relativity. He continued to appear in films and TV shows but would strike a deal with stardom in 2004.
Ramirez gained prominence in the quirky comedy Napoleon Dynamite for his role as Pedro Sánchez. Prior to appearing in the film, Efren was stuck between choosing between the movie and the studio film The Alamo which was also released the same year. Of course, he chose Napoleon Dynamite which went on to become a cult classic as well as amassed more than $41 million on a budget of $400k at the box office. In 2012, he provided the voice of Pedro in the animated version of the film, Napoleon Dynamite series.
Following his rise to stardom, he had an influx of roles both on the big and small screens. He starred in films including 2006 suspense film Crank (2006) alongside and , and it’s 2009 sequel, Crank: High Voltage which also featured his twin brother, Employee of the Month with and , American Summer alongside .
On TV, he was featured in HBO’s Walkout as well as in MTV’s All You’ve Got with . In 2009, Ramirez appeared as a contestant on MTV’s Celebrity Rap Superstar. Efren made cameos in Nacho Libre and Mr. & Mrs. Smith as well as had a role in the biopic Endgame as Mr. Alvarado in 2015 and in Mad Families in 2017. His latest television role was in the 2016 animated sitcom, Bordertown where he voiced Ruiz Gonzalez.
Efren Ramirez married American-Mexican actress, Iyari Limon in 1998 but their marriage was annulled a year later.

Apart from acting, Efren Ramirez is also a popular DJ. He has performed worldwide and toured in not less than 50 cities across 5 continents. His sets include a variety of music, from hip hop, funk, techno, disco, to hard house. In 2001, he co-founded the production company Nocturnal Rampage which holds a recurring rave event every summer in Austin, Texas. Ramirez is also the co-founder of Powerhouse Pictures Entertainment, LLC, with Chris Barrett. The duo also co-wrote a book titled Direct Your Own Life: How To Be A Star in Any Field You Choose (2008).
He made a cameo appearance as Pedro in the music video for Sleazy where he lip-syncs ‘s verse. Additionally, Ramirez is a public speaker, or rather a mentor. He visits high schools and universities to speak to students and is also very involved with charitable organizations.
