It is not very often that you find a broadcaster whose career path has taken him from the baseball fields through the floors of the New York City Mercantile Exchange all the way to the stables of Fox News. This is the story of American TV personality, Eric Bolling who rose to national prominence as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s The Five and later on Fox News Specialists.
Eric Bolling’s Bio
Eric was born on March 2, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to a father who has a Swedish heritage and a mother with Italian roots. Bolling schooled at the Queen of All Saints Basilica school and subsequently Loyola Academy to obtain a high school education.
He attended the Rollins College graduating in 1984 with a degree in Economics. As a young man his aspirations were to pursue a career in baseball, he joined the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 22nd round of the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft. Sadly a torn rotator cuff injury truncated his burgeoning baseball career.
After his injury, it was obvious to Eric that any hopes of a career in sports were over at a young age of just 22. He joined the New York City Mercantile Exchange as a commodity trader and rose through the ranks.
Eric Bolling’s foray into journalism began when he joined CNBC and anchored Fast Money. He moved in August 2007 to Fox as financial analyst hosting the business show “Happy Hour.”
After 10 years in Fox, on August 4, 2017, Eric Bolling was accused of sending photos of his genitals to female colleagues by a news story published on Huff Post. After an internal investigation, Bolling and Fox News amicably parted ways. Determined to fight back, Bolling filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against the author of the story on Huffington Post – Yashar Ali.

Wife, Son
Eric Bolling is married to Adrienne Bolling. The couple wedded on October 4, 1997. A year later, they had their first child Eric Chase Bolling. However, tragedy struck on September 9, 2017, when their 19-year-old son was reported dead barely a few hours after his dad lost his job at Fox news. He was found dead in his off-campus apartment in Boulder, Colorado. Until his death, Eric was a freshman at the University of Colorado.
Initially thought to be a suicide, the coroner’s report later identified the cause of death to be an accidental drug overdose which included a mixture of two opioids – fentanyl and cyclopropyl fentanyl, marijuana, cocaine, and Xanax.
Family
Eric Bolling came from humble upbringings; his dad John Gustav Bolling was a traveling salesman while his mother Marie Hildegarde (Catino) sold female coats at Marshall Fields. Though his family lived in a relatively affluent neighborhood in Sauganash because of his maternal grandfather’s ties to real estate, his immediate family lived below the poverty line.
One very striking feature of Eric’s life has been his devotion to his immediate family, a devotion that was evident in his close relationship with his late son whose demise devasted Eric and his wife Adrienne.
Eric Bolling’s Net Worth
Though Eric Bolling is widely known as a journalist, he had a successful career as a commodity trader on the New York City Mercantile Exchange specializing in gold, oil and in the oil futures market. While on the floor, he sat on the board of the NYMEX for five years after which he became a strategic adviser to the exchange’s board of directors.
Eric Bolling has authored a New York Times bestseller Wake Up America: The Nine Virtues That Made Our Nation Great – And Why We Need Them More Than Ever. His most recent book – The Swamp: Washington’s Murky Pool of Corruption and Cronyism – And How Trump Can Drain It attempts to paint a picture of the corruption inherent in Washington and why Donald Trump “an outsider” is perfectly placed to clean up the polity. From all his streams of income, Eric Bolling’s net worth is put at between $15-25 million.
Height
Being a former athlete, it is no surprise that Eric has an athletic build. Eric Bolling stands at 6 feet 1 inch. Other information about his body stats – weight, chest, biceps and waist measurements – are unavailable in public domain.
Where Is Eric Bolling Now?
After his unceremonious exit from Fox News, there were speculations that Bolling would be tapped up for a role at the White House given his links with President Trump and he was earlier thought to be in the running for the role of Assistant Secretay of Commerce.
After the death of his son from a drug overdose, Eric Bolling has volunteered for the Trump administration in a bid to raise the much-needed awareness about the opioid crisis. Most recently, the streaming network CRTV announced that Bolling will host a new program called “America” billed to start early in the summer of 2018.
