The veteran actor’s story begins in Baltimore, Maryland. Ernest Wilson Brown, popularly referred to as Ernie Lively was born on January 29, 1947. He is of white ethnicity and an American by nationality. There is no information as regards his early education background or qualification owing to his desire for privacy.

His foray into professional acting began in 1975 after he got cast to play the role of a railroad conductor on an episode of the CBS Television Drama, The Walton’s. In 1977, he scored himself another role this time as a bartender in the NBC American television police drama McCloud. The following year he made his big screen debut by taking up the role of Danny in the movie The Million Dollar Dixie Deliverance. In 1979, Ernie received a career boost after taking up multiple roles in the CBS American action-comedy television series The Dukes of Hazzard in which he played the character of Dobro Doolan, Longstreet B Davenport and that of a guard.

Between the period of 1980-1984, Ernie Lively featured in several movies and TV shows such as Its My Turn, Private Benjamin, Fantasy Island, CBS School Break Special and Drop out Father, among others but was still a long way from bagging that breakthrough role. In 1985, he was cast to play the role of a US Marshall in the action movie Badge of the Assassin. That same year he appeared on an episode of Misfits of Science and Secret Admirer with him playing the role of an army officer and a guard respectively.

His big break eventually came in 1987 after being cast to play the role of Tom Burnside in the movie Into the Homeland alongside Powers Boothe and Becky Barnes. The movie which was widely accepted by fans and movie lovers alike was all Ernie needed to project him to a whole new level of fame and stardom. Ever since getting his big break, he has gone on to feature in a long list of movies and TV shows such as Dead or Alive, Scandal in a Small Town, My Family, Malibu Shores, Saving Grace, Outlaw, Shadow, and most recently Looking Glass.
