Melanie Sykes a gorgeous British television and radio presenter and a supermodel. Coming into the public eye with a commercial for Boddingtons Bitter – using her strong northern accent, she has positioned herself and also landed modeling gigs for other businesses like Berlei lingerie, Heads & Shoulders and many others. To so many fans, Melanie Sykes is best known as a show host. The beautiful and elegant model is the host (and co-host for some of them) of a couple of radio and television shows such as Today with Des and Mel, Going Out with Alan Carr, Alan and Mel’s Summer Escape and Let’s Do Lunch.

The Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire native was born Melanie Ann Sykes on August 7, 1970, into a Catholic family. Her mother’s name is Wendy Sykes, an Anglo-Indian, while her father, Robert Sykes is English. Melanie has an older sister called Samantha Sykes and a younger sister called Stacy Sykes. The Sykes were members of the Ashtonian Brass Band and Melanie played the baritone horn instrument. She went to Mossley Hollins High School and Ashton Sixth Form College where she studied A-level Religious Studies.
Being the face of Boddingtons Bitter beer helped to propel her to fame in the 1990s and between 1997 to 2001, Melanie started co-presenting on TV with the show The Big Breakfast Show. She continued with voicing Jelly Otter in the UK version of PB&J Otter in 1998. In 1999, Sykes also began working with BBC Two presenting the documentary Melanie Sykes’ Southall Stories and after being away from the screen in 2000 and 2001, her return was co-hosting and presenting shows for ITV including The British Soap Awards (2003), Celebrities Under Pressure (2003-2004) and The Vault (2003-2004).
Melanie Sykes was co-presenter for the show Today with Des and Mel alongside Des O’Connor from 2002 to 2006. She appeared as a guest presenter and panelist for 13 episodes of Loose Woman (2005-2013). From 2006 to 2009, she appeared again as a guest presenter for the show The Paul O’Grady Show, filling in for Paul O’Grady. She has presented a couple of daytime shows including BBC’s Gene Detectives in 2007, Let’s Do Lunch with Gino & Mel (2011-2014) and Let’s Do Christmas with Gino & Mel (2012-2014) alongside Gino D’Acampo on ITV.
Still on her gigs as a presenter, Melanie co-presented on Channel 4 five episodes of The 5 O’clock Show with Denise van Outen in 2010 and ITV’s Missing Millions with Paul Heiney in 2011. She became a contestant in 2014 for the 14th season of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! where she was the second runner up behind Carl Fogarty and Jake Quickenden. With Macro Pierre White, she co-presented the cooking series Humble Pie in 2015 and became the voiceover for the show Blind Date in 2017 taking over from Graham Skidmore.
The star anchor who has hosted Miss World, BAFTA Awards and Q Awards among other award ceremonies has also worked in radio where she has presented on famous radio programs including The A-List on Heart 106.2, Steve Wright in the Afternoon, Going Out with Alan Carr, and Alan and Mel’s Summer Escape on BBC Radio 2 – in 2017 and 2018.
As a supermodel, she has modeled for brands such as Berlei lingerie, Esquire, Heads & Shoulders, Morrisons, Wynsors World of Shoes, Churchill Insurance and in 2017, Melanie was on the new Boddingtons Bitter advertisement which followed her first job with them over 20 years ago.
She has co-written a book titled Blooming Beautiful: My Plans for Looking Great, Being Healthy and Surviving Hormonal Havoc, Throughout Pregnancy and as a New Mum with Hilary Boyd. Melanie Sykes also has a lingerie line and owns a fitness and lifestyle website.
Is Melanie Sykes Married or Divorced?
The talented TV presenter has had a long history in terms of serious relationships and kinky flings with both older and younger men. Her first marriage was with English actor Daniel Caltagirone, widely known for his role in Tudors. They tied the knots in January 2001 and their marriage was blessed with two sons; Roman Caltagirone, born in 2002 and Valentino Luca Caltagirone, born on 2004 with autism which was diagnosed when he was two years old. For reasons unknown. the couple was separated in July 2008 as Daniel moved out of their Hampstead home in London. A divorce process followed, which was finalized one year on, in June 2009.
Her next marriage was to roof contractor, Jack Cockings, who was 15 years younger than her. They met on Twitter and began dating in August 2012 before Melanie proposed to Jack. Fast forward to May 18, 2013, the lovebirds got married at the Sherborne Castle in Dorset. However, their marriage soon crashed within seven months when reports of physical abuse began to surface. Cockings reported to the police that he was been assaulted by Melanie which led to her arrest. She was subsequently cautioned after spending one night in custody and soon after she was released, she filed for a divorce.
Melanie Sykes has also been reported to be dating toyboys. She dated pop star Olly Murs in 2017 who she is 14 years older than and German golf player, Martin Kaymer in 2018 but has refused to confirm any of these rumored affairs.
