“Never Say Never” should be Noah Brown’s mantra if he does have one. Noah Brown has had to deal with two serious injuries one each in high school and college. However, it didn’t deter him from keeping his eye on the goal – playing in the NFL.
Following two seasons in college, Noah forewent 2 years of his college eligibility and declared his entrance to the 2017 NFL Draft, a decision that raised many eyebrows. Born on January 6, 1996, Noah Brown is a native of the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township, New Jersey. He began his footballing career at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta, New Jersey. Brown showed great prospects as a freshman, however, a rib injury prior to the start of his second year saw him sit out the rest of the season.
Noah returned to playing by his junior year and remained successful through his senior year. As a senior, Brown threw 857 yards and had 41 interceptions, 14 receiving and 7 rushing touchdowns. He played at three different positions including as a wide receiver, running back and kick returner.
Thanks to Brown’s contributions, his team was able to reach the non-public league Group 3 final. He was a recipient of the Newark Star-Ledger All-New Jersey honors. His high school stats of 3,000 all-purpose yards and 42 touchdowns attracted attention from many colleges including Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and USC.
For his collegiate career, Noah Brown committed to Ohio State University. He played 13 games in his freshman season but caught just one pass. Noah was exceptional during spring practice and looked like he would go on to earn the starting wide receiver position, but his hopes were truncated by a leg injury that left his left tibia and fibula broken.
Noah required two surgeries to fix his leg and as a result, was redshirted throughout the 2015 season. He returned in 2016 as a sophomore playing in 13 games recording a total of 402 yards, 7 touchdowns and 32 receptions which ranked second best in the team. He greatly impressed scouts in the third game of the 2016 season against Oklahoma when he totaled 5 passes for 72 yards. His 4 touchdowns from the game tied him with a school record.
Noah Brown forwent his two years of college eligibility and entered the 2017 NFL Draft. The wide receiver made his intentions known in early 2017 in a statement via his personal Twitter account. “I have decided it is time for me to move on to the next level,” he wrote. His decision was one of the biggest surprises of the Buckeyes postseason for many reasons including the fact that he had just one-year experience as a starter.
He first worked out at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana and later Ohio State pro day. Noah Brown was selected in the 7th round, a round higher than what experts and scouts had predicted.
The Cowboys, on May 11, 2017, signed him to a 4-year contract worth $2.47 million with a signing bonus of a little over $70,000. Noah played 13 games in his rookie season with 1 start. He recorded 4 receptions for 33 receiving yards.
