Rudi Bakhtiar Bio
You won’t search hard to find that this media personality was born to Iranian immigrants on June 21, 1966. She was named Rudabeh Carleen Bakhtiar after she was birthed and her place of birth was in Fresno, California. She is the first of three children; a sister to a younger brother and sister. The Bakhtiar name is a legacy in itself. Her great-grandfather was Sardar Jang. Her uncle was Shapour Bakhtiar, the former prime minister of Iran during Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s reign who was assassinated in 1991 in France. One of her great aunts, Soraya Esfandiary was also the second wife to the Shah of Iran.
Her family shuffled back and forth between Iran and America, so Rudi’s childhood was split between the two countries. When she was 2, her family moved from Fresno to Los Angeles and, three years later, to Iran, where they remained until the Iranian Revolution forced them to relocate back to the States in 1979.
She completed her higher education at the University of California, earning a degree in biology, with the intention of becoming a dentist. However, she changed her mind after receiving her acceptance letter from the New York University Dental School. She also attended Harvard School of Design, where she studied architecture.
Rudi Bakhtiar joined CNN in 1996 and proceeded to spend the next 9 years there working in several capacities. She reported on major assignments in different continents. Bakhtiar was the anchor for CNN’s Headline News coverage on the deadly September 11 attacks. She left CNN after distinguished years of service to care for her father who was battling oropharyngeal cancer. After his death, she returned to work, landing a new role as general correspondent for FOX News in 2006. The position allowed her to cover major news stories on the international front including the trial and execution of the cruel dictator Saddam Hussein and the Ahmadinejad-al-Maliki summit.
Rudi’s time at Fox News was cut short after alleging that Brian Wilson, former Washington DC bureau chief at the network and Roger Ailes had sexually harassed her on different occasions. Shortly after she refused Brian’s advances, she was fired. Although the case was eventually decided in her favour, Rudi struggled to find work in television for a while.
She made a career change in 2008, joining the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans as the first director of public relations. While there, she produced a mini-documentary series called Profiles of Iranian Americans who were very successful in their communities, as well as Passing the Torch of Success, a community event geared towards raising the next generation of phenomenal Iranian-Americans. Rudi’s vehement stance on human rights issues in Iran led to her leaving the organisation prematurely. At present, she is working on a documentary about the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters resisting ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
What Is Her Net Worth?
Thanks to her years of experience working with major media organisations, Rudi Bakhtiar has racked up a robust wealth. It is believed that Reuters News where she currently works pays a salary range of $89,000 – $98,000 for their producers annually, so her salary figure must fall within that range. She is estimated to have a net worth of $300,000, a figure that will continue to rise as she regains her footing in the industry and takes on new projects.
Is Rudi Bakhtiar Married To A Husband or Does She Have A Boyfriend?
Not much is known about Rudi’s personal life as she has managed to keep such details away from the public. Considering the enormous amount of media attention she receives, it is quite surprising that the beautiful journalist has not had a very active dating life, or perhaps she has managed to hide them all pretty well.
Rudi Bakhtiar, to the best of public knowledge, remains unmarried and is without a husband, boyfriend, or children. However, she was once rumoured to be dating Steve Overmyer, the popular television personality, but neither of them confirmed or denied it.
