Sue Perkins is clearly a figure to reckon with as long as the British entertainment scene is concerned. Despite starting her career as a comedian in college, she has worked her way to the very top, transcending the comedian title to become a TV host, radio presenter, actress, and most recently, an author. Her 2015 book Spectacles: A Memoir was well received with it scoring great reviews from book lovers and critics alike.

Susan Sue Elizabeth Perkins is a well-known English comedian, radio presenter, TV host, and author. She was born on the 22nd of September in East Dulwich, London, England, to Bert Perkins (father) and Ann Perkins (mother). Her father was a car retailer and her mum had the humble job of a secretary. She is of British nationality and white ethnicity. Growing up, she had her high school education at Croham Hurst School, an only girl’s school in South Croydon, London. Upon Graduation from high school, she enrolled at the University of Cambridge to study English. During her college days, she was known as a comedian with her doing a couple of standup routines at college social events, she was also a renowned member of the amateur theatrical club, Footlights. Sue was highly involved in the club’s activities to the point of her getting elected to be the club’s president at some point. In 1990, Sue eventually graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English.
After graduating from college, she got a job as a TV presenter on the French and Saunders sketch show alongside Mel Giedroyc who also attended the Cambridge University. In March 1994, they started a cookery show which they called Light Lunch on the Channel 4 network. The show entailed a group of celebrity chefs cooking different delicacies for celebrity guests on the show.
In 1999, Sue Perkins alongside her partner got signed by ITV and hosted a comedy panel game called Casting Couch, but the show was dropped after six episodes due to poor ratings. The Brit was nominated for Best Television Female Comic in the British awards, this was in 2012. The next year, she made her acting debut in the British sitcom Heading Out, in which she played the character of Sara.
Since the start of her career on television in the 1900s, Sue has gone on to create and host several other TV shows such as the award-winning cookery series The Great British Bake off, Lets Sing and Dance for Comic Relief, and the Generation Game, to name but a few.
