It is really disheartening that in today’s world, with all of humanity’s advancements and enlightenment, racial discrimination remains a reality. In most quarters, it is still being endorsed in hushed tones, in others, in more glaring ways. Iva Colter by every definition is an accomplished woman, but it is sad that she came to national consciousness because of the weird reaction on live TV when it was revealed that she is the wife to actor Mike Colter. Some people were less than impressed that Mike would marry a white woman.
Iva Colter’s Biography
Iva Colter was born in New Jersey on the 25th of April 1975 as Iva Popovicova, She holds a Masters of Arts, Gender, and Culture from the Central European University and obtained a PhD from the State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick. Very little is known about Iva’s parents and siblings because she lives a very private life.
After Iva left the University, her first job was as a senior executive consultant from 2006 to 2012. Her next stop was a management role as Assistant Vice-President of Recruitment at Ares Management. She was on this job for two years after which she teamed up with Netflix Inc. as Manager of Talent Acquisition in 2014.
Barely 18 months after joining Netflix, she was moved up to her current position as Director of Talent Acquisition. In this role, she oversees designing and executing recruitment strategies, monitoring recruitment procedures and identifying high-potential human resource for Netflix. While still rising on the corporate ladder, Iva also made time during which she returned to Rutgers University, as a an English professor.

While Iva Colter is most comfortable in a boardroom or in from a group of students, she is married to a much more famous and flamboyant personality. Iva is married to Actor Mike Colter. The pair met at Rutgers University, where Iva was studying for a PhD in comparative literature and Mike was pursuing a Masters in Acting.
Mike Colter made his acting debut in the television series ER in 2002, he played the role of Big Willie Little alongside Clint Eastwood in a Million Dollar Baby in 2004, a year later he appeared in Law & Order, Silver Bells, and in the 2007 film And Then Came Love.
In 2010, Mike appeared as a CIA Tactical Leader in the film Salt where he had the opportunity to work with Academy Award-winning actress Mike also stared in the 2012 film Men in Black playing Colonel James Darrell Edwards, he also played Operative Mike in Kathryn Bigelow’s film Zero Dark Thirty. After all the hustle, he starred in The Good Wife, which gave him the interesting and recurring role of Lemond Bishop, a complex, sexy, drug-dealing business mogul.
Mike has gone on to appear in a whole lot of other movies like as Agent Jameson Locke in the Halo Franchise, as Miles Lathem in Agent X and as Luke Cage in Marvel’s Jessica Jones. He will reprise his role as Luke Cage in Marvel’s Luke Cage, on Netflix.

Mike Colter was a guest on The Wendy Williams Show, and unfortunately, some of his fans were unhappy that he married a white woman. When the photo of Mike and his wife, Iva was shown some members of the audience stopped cheering. The same audience who were shouting and cheering when Mike entered the show showed no response after the picture was shown.
In a later interview, when asked about the incident that occurred on The Wendy Williams Show, a visibly offended Colter fired back at the haters saying that he loves his wife very much and that has nothing to do with the race. In his opinion, no one should be judged according to his/her race rather by the virtues and values they stand for. Mike explained how he met his wife when he was struggling in school and didn’t have much to offer. He narrated how she stuck by him through the tough years.
