Jürgen Damm’s Biography
Jürgen Damm was born on November 7, 1992, in the coastal city of Tuxpan, state of Veracruz, Mexico. He is of German descent from his paternal grandfather’s side, and as a result, he holds a German passport.
At age 2, Damm and his family moved to Toronto, Canada, due to the nature of his father’s job. But the family returned to Mexico after 2 years and settled in Guadalajara. Despite his interest in football, his father believed in the importance of education and as such, he was not allowed to join any of the Mexican football clubs until age 17.
Football Career
Damm began his football career in 2011 after he was spotted by Magdaleno Mercado (a Mexican footballer who played for the country in the 1960s), and was given the opportunity to try out with the Atlas.
After staying with the team for six months without the opportunities to play, he left and was transferred to play with the youth team of Estudiantes Tecos.
He turned pro at age 18 with the Tecos. His debut on March 25, 2012, in the Liga MX was not successful as his team lost the game to Monterrey (4-0). Jürgen Damm remained with the club for several seasons before he got transferred to Pachuca the following year.
Between 2013 and 2014, Damm played steadily with the Pachuca in the first season, appearing in every game. He scored his first career goal on October 20, 2013, against the Guadalajara and progressed with his team to the final of the Clausura 2014 football season. He sustained an injury in the second match against Monterrey at the beginning of 2014 season with the Apertura. This kept him out of 8 games but he returned full time the same year. He was part of the team when Pachuca scored a goal against Municipal during the 2014 – 2015 CONCACAF Champions League.
The CONCACAF final second leg offered Damm and the Tigres side the opportunity to qualify for December’s FIFA Club World Cup. He made his senior debut match on March 28, 2015, as a substitute in the 84th minute of the match against Ecuador in what was his first call-up for Mexico.
Speaking in an interview, Jürgen Damm said it was his dream to play a World Cup, in a European club with Champions League. He trusts in God that someday he be able to fulfill his dream. As per his playing skills, Damm is more interested in perfecting his crossing and shooting on goal.
Family, Parents
The Tigres forward is a family man who spends his time outside the soccer field with his young daughter and wife.
He was raised by middle-upper class parents who prioritize education over any other informal skills, including soccer, as was noted when they insisted he must acquire a university degree.

Controversy

However, it turned out to be a huge misunderstanding, as the talented footballer wasn’t certain they were police officers asking him to pull over.
In the club’s official statement, he wrote that he could not identify who it was and decided to hide somewhere close. Fortunately, he was released since the authorities only wanted to check his car permit.
On January 1, 2018, it was announced on that Damm suffered first degree burns to the right side of his face and will recover in two weeks.
It wasn’t clear how he got the burn exactly, but it had to do with fireworks. Damm later sent photos of his injuries to warn people of the dangers of using firecrackers.
