Jacquizz Rodgers Bio
Jacquizz Rodgers was born on February 6, 1990, in Richmond, Texas to James Rodgers Snr and Tasha Williams. As the Texas kid came of age, he was enrolled at Lamar Consolidated High School where he trained and played high school football with the Mustangs football team. Jacquizz broke out in his second year and continued his impressive form throughout his high school career. By the end of his senior year, he had recorded 8,246 rushing yards with 135 touchdowns in the four years of his high school career.
Having shown his football potentials in high school, Jacquizz was highly sought after by a couple of reputable colleges to enroll with them for a college football scholarship; notably, the University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Southern California and some others. He, however, chose the University of Oregon where his elder brother was already studying.
Joining the Oregon Beavers football team, Jacquizz Rodgers worked so hard in his freshman season and almost immediately got for himself the starting position as running back.
As he played through his college career, Jacquizz Rodgers smashed several records garnering more attention to himself. Most notably, with his Beavers teammates, they set a new Pac-10 freshman rushing record following their 34-6 victory over University of California, Los Angeles. He then ended his college career with 3,877 rushing yards, 46 touchdowns, 1,056 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. Some of his college awards include the Pac-10 Freshman Player of the Year (2008), AP First Team All-American (2010) and 2× AP Third Team All-American (2008 – 2009).
NFL Career
Jacquizz decided to forego his final year of college football to enter the 2011 NFL Draft. He then got drafted by the Atlanta Falcons as the 145th overall in the fifth round of the draft. His first professional contract was worth $3,017,000 and lasted for four years.
As expected, Rodgers Jr. got off impressively in the NFL scoring his first touchdown of many to come in his first professional match against the Carolina Panthers. By the end of the season, from the 16 games he played, he had rushed for 2015 yards, had one rushing touchdown, with 21 receptions, a total of 188 receiving yards and just one receiving touchdown. In the 2012 season, the running back from Richmond, Texas posted an improved 362 rushing yards, having one rushing touchdown, with 53 receptions, 402 receiving yards, and another one receiving touchdown like in the previous season.

Having proved his worth in his first NFL team, all eyes were on Jacquizz Rodgers when the Chicago Bears signed him in March 2015 in a one year contract. He, however, found himself quickly on the injured reserve list after injuring his arm in their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in October 2015. Jacquizz had from the 5 games he played; 41 rushing yards with 14 carries in his first season with The Monsters of the Midway. He signed a one-year contract extension on March 9, 2016, but by September 13, 2016, Rodgers Jr. had been released by the Bears and he was signing a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In his first season with The Bucs, Jacquizz recorded for the 10 games he played; 63 yards and a touchdown, 129 carries for 560 yards and two touchdowns. The running back was impressive enough and showed potentials of doing even better. For this reason, he got a 2-year contract extension worth $3.3 million which kept him in the team through 2018.
Brother
Jacquizz Rodgers has as his elder brother James Rodgers who also played football and is now a coach. james also had his high school education at Lamar Consolidated High School in Richmond, Texas after which he went to Oregon State University playing football at both schools. In addition, he equally played basketball and ran track to which he was very good in both sports.
James entered the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in the 2012 NFL Draft. His stay with the Falcons as a wide receiver/kickoff returner was restricted much to the practice squad as he never made it to the first team in his short stay with them. He sought a career redemption with the Montreal Alouettes in 2014 which he got by playing a total of 10 games in the season. In 2016, we went the path of starting a coaching career as he took up a job as player personnel intern and graduate manager at the University of Nebraska athletic department.
