Jamal Murray was drafted in 2016 to NBA as the 7th overall pick by the Denver Nuggets after only his first year of college. This came as no surprise because, at the age of three, he was an avid basketballer. It is said that he played against those way older than him when he was a lad.

Jamal was born to Silvia and Roger Murray in the year 1997 on the 23rd of February in Kitchener Ontario, Canada. According to reports, his father was born in Jamaica but moved to Canada when he was nine. The NBA star has a younger brother called Lamar. As the story goes, Jamal started playing basketball from the tender age of three. It is believed that he played with those twice his age at that time; when he was six, he was a star among players who were around 10 years old and by the time he was 14, he was already thriving in the game, competing against high school and college stars. When he started his college career, sometime in June 2015, with the Kentucky Wildcats, Jamal Murray quickly gathered a widespread recognition for himself. He was able to pull off 20.0 points per game which became the highest points accumulated by a freshman in the history of the team. As one would expect, this brought him several recognitions including the SEC All-Freshman 2016 team honor. Jamal was equally named to the All-SEC first-team and AP’s All-American third-team of the year. Also, he was among those listed for the John R. Wooden Award.
NBA Career
His professional career kicked off after he made a pact with the Denver Nuggets in August 2016. As mentioned earlier, he was picked by the team in the year’s NBA Draft in the first round with the seventh overall pick. The bloke did not waste any time in asserting himself in the league. He finished his rookie campaign as a member of the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. Disregarding that, Murray was celebrated as a Western Conference Rookie of the Month in December 2016 and recognized as the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge in February 2017.
Beyond his NBA career, Jamal has been a fine player for Canada. He represented the country during the 2015 Pan American Games and helped the national team take home the silver.
