Jax Jones is an English DJ, record producer, singer, songwriter and remixer best known for his song You Don’t Know Me. He came to fame when the song which featured Raye peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. His career in music was partly born out of his childhood interest in hip-hop, R&B, gospel, traditional African music and influenced by his family.
Biography
Born on July 25, 1987, as Timucin Lam, the beat maker was raised in a multi-ethnic household. His Turkish father gave him the name Timucin and his Chinese mother was into music as well. Jones also had a Nigeria stepfather who introduced him to afrobeat through the famous Fela Kuti. He once shared that his parents wanted him to become a doctor but his love for music also comes with some goodies.
Studying classical guitar from a young age bolstered his love for music and he took up beat-making at age 15 after discovering Cubase on his friend’s Atari. Musicians like Kylie Minogue and Luther Vandross, as well as Producers like The Neptunes, Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins, played a roll in shaping his musical horizons.
Music Career and Breakthrough
Jax Jones was joggling between lectures and music studio at the time he enroled into the University at 18, following his parents’ encouragement. Later, he started performing at open mic clubs around London and eventually came together with Ripperman, a grime producer from Mitcham as well as Brixton’s Raw Materials Studio. Jones delved into fulltime music after his graduation. He rented a studio in Sydenham when he wasn’t allowed back into his family home, form there, he worked to perfect his talent. That is to say, if anybody knows nothing good comes easy, Jones does.
As fortune will always smile on those who believe in their dreams and work towards it, Jax Jones finally had his break. His newly found interest in house music in 2014 brought him closer to Duke Dumont and together, they co-wrote and produced songs like I Got U, Won’t Look Back and Ocean Drive, all of which were successful.
However, it was worth venturing into making singles, thus, he released the single Yeah Yeah Yeah and House Work in 2015 and 2016 respectively. And then came the single You Don’t Know Me in December 2016, which became his biggest success so far as the song spotted number three in the UK and top five status in several European countries, including Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Norway. For Jones, the year 2017 that followed immediately after the song was released, was the “best year” of his life. He took to his to express his gratitude to his fans.

As mentioned earlier, Jones father is Turkish and he was raised by his Chinese mother and Nigerian stepfather. None of his parents’ names was disclosed and it’s not known whether he grew up with any siblings.
Girlfriend, Wife
Jones has shared a few photos of himself and his girlfriend and the couple have since gotten married in November 2017 in Thailand. Taking to his IG page, at the break of 2018, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude for making it into 2018. According to him, 2017 was the best year being married to the woman of his dreams who was there before his career breakthrough. Jones also confirmed that his song with Raye and other collaborators sold 7 million singles and 1 billion streams.
