It’s bound to happen, you will quit wondering why Joanna Jedrzejczyk is such a big deal in UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and combat sports at large the moment you learn about some of her attainments in the field. Without a doubt, the Polish mixed martial artist is one of the most accomplished women in the fighting sports.
Apart from being a UFC Women’s Strawweight champion, Joanna successfully defended her title five times and has been able to pull off several remarkable records in the UFC. For instance, she is the first female European UFC champion, the third European UFC champion, and the first UFC champ from Poland.
Beyond the achievements above, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has a solid reputation as an ex-Muay Thai kickboxer. She was the 2009 J-Girls champ of the Kickboxing Federation, the World Kickboxing Federation’s European champion of 2010, and the World Kickboxing Network champ of the same year. She equally took the 2013 World Budokai Federation Pro title. That’s not all, consecutively from 2009 to 2013, Lady Joanna won the gold medal of the IFMA World Championships. This fighter was once the WMC/EMF European champion and has been the IFMA European champion four times.
Considering the foregoing, one can understand why most people have substituted her surname for “Champion”. She is now widely referred to as Joanna Champion.
Age, Early Life, and Rise to Fame
Even as the accomplishments of this fighter in combat sports has cast a shadow over details of her family background and other things one may desire to know about her, it is no secret that she was born in Olsztyn, Poland on the 18th of August and in the year 1987 to Jan and Anna Jedrzejczyk.
To the best of our knowledge, Joanna Champion didn’t forsake her education in order to earn a living from giving people a sound thrashing. While the facts surrounding her education are hard to come by, there are reasons to believe she was once a college student and owns a degree in Physical Education.
It is said that her adventure as a fighter did not start intentionally. Joanna Jedrzejczyk only started training because she wanted to stay in shape. But as fate would have it, she became a Muay Thai fighter, fought in this capacity for about 10 years before she became a mixed martial artist. Sometime in July 2014, she joined the UFC and the next year, her popularity touched the sky. This was as a result of her triumph over Carla Esparza at UFC 185 to become the UFC Women’s Strawweight champion.
Her Net Worth
For a fighter of her caliber, it is hardly a surprise that people are hugely interested in knowing the extent of the wealth that Joanna has accumulated for herself from her career as a professional mixed martial artist. Unfortunately, this quest has led to the quoting of several figures that can barely be substantiated as Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s net worth.
While you will find that she’s worth $5, $4, and $3 million; you will equally come across sources that have estimated the total value of her riches at a figure barely above $200,000. If anything, this only goes to show that the extent of Joanna’s wealth is best known to her alone. But if we must make a rough estimate, the value of everything she owns should be around $5 million.
Sisters, Boyfriend or Husband, Is Joanna Married?
Joanna is not the only child of Jan and Anna Jedrzejczyk. From what we’ve pieced together, her parents have three children with her being the middle child. The UFC star has a twin sister named Katarzyna and they both have an older sister called Ewa; she is six years older than the twins.
Katarzyna was born 25 minutes after Joanna. While the latter was caught up with martial arts, Katarzyna settled for being an accountant.
As far as we can tell, Joanna Jedrzejczyk isn’t married to anyone. But then, it is known that she has been having something special with some bloke identified as Przemysław Buta. It even circulated sometime in 2017 that the two are engaged and looking forward to becoming life partners.
From what we learned, Buta is a professional Polish footballer and he plays as a midfielder for Kaczkan Huragan Morag, a football team in Poland.
