Age, Early Life, and Rise to Fame

Joe Pesci was born on the 9th of February 1943 in Newark, New Jersey to an Italian father, Angelo Pesci and Mary (née Mesce). Raised in Belleville, New Jersey, Pesci attended Belleville High School. Pesci had an inherent passion for entertainment and at just the age of 5, he had begun appearing in plays. His first ever screen gig was in the TV variety show, Startime Kids.

Pesci also nursed a passion for music and learned to play the guitar. Alongside his friend Frankie Valli, Pesci helped form the band, the Four Seasons and would go on to play in several other music bands. Like his mother, Pesci became a part-time barber while pursuing his show business interests. He got to release his debut album Little Joe Sure Can Sing! (1968) which was made up of covers of contemporary hit songs.

He would eventually encounter Frankie Vincent and together the two performed in clubs across New York. Together with Vincent, Pesci made his feature film debut in the 1976 low-budget crime thriller, The Death Collector.

Three years later, got to see the film and impressed with his performance, introduced him to Martin Scorsese, starting what would become a longterm work relationship. His first Martin Scorsese film, Raging Bull (1980) made him an overnight star. He won a BAFTA for the role as well as an Oscar nod and the rest as is often said is history.

Joe Pesci would go on to shine throughout the 80s and the 90s, racking up an enviable resume.

What Happened To Him, Where Is He Now?

After four decades of contributing his talent to the entertainment industry, Joe Pesci decided to retire in 1999. His major reason was so he could have some personal time away from the camera and also get to spend some more time with his family.

Pesci also revealed that he wanted to pursue a music career but he didn’t get to release any new record after his sophomore work, Vincent LaGuardia Gambini Sings Just for You dropped through Columbia Records in 1998.

Pesci was enjoying his time off until his bosom friend Robert De Niro requested that he made a cameo appearance in his 2006 film, The Good Shepherd. He would then score a couple of gigs including an appearance in a 2011 commercial. Fans were elated when word got out that Pesci would be working with his longtime collaborators Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese in the mob thriller, The Irishman (2019).

 

Though Pesci didn’t give a word on the gig being a comeback to regular acting, saw it as enough evidence to report so. Well, only time will tell how long Pesci would be active before finally hanging his boots for good.

His Wife and Daughter

Joe Pesci is not married as of this writing but in the past has been married and divorced at least twice. His first marriage was to an unknown woman in 1964 when he was 21 years old. Unconfirmed reports say that Pesci had a daughter born around 1967 with the mystery woman.

His first marriage to come to media light was to model and actress Claudia Haro. Their marriage lasted from 1988 to 1992. Their union produced a daughter named Tiffany Pesci. Pesci’s ex-wife in 2012 in reports linking her with a murder case. Pesci was engaged to former model and actress, Angie Everhart in 2007, however, they broke off their engagement in 2008 before they could make it down the aisle.

Joe Pesci’s name is sure to be included on a list of Hollywood greats with short heights. The veteran actor during his prime stood at a height of 5 feet 3 inches. As common with aging, the actor has shrunk a couple inches bringing his current height to around 5 feet 1 inch.
