Jon Jones’ Biography (Age)
Jon Jones, who you can also call Bones (nickname) or Jonathan Dwight Jones (full name) was born on July 19, 1987 in Rochester, New York, U.S., into a Christian family headed by Arthur Jones Jr., a pastor at the Pentecostal church in Endicott, New York, and his wife Camille Jones who was a nurse. Sadly, Camille lost her life in a battle with diabetes in June 2017.
Growing up, Jon Jones played American football, just like his brothers did but wrestling took the centre stage in his professional life. He emerged a state wrestling champion at Union Endicott high school in upstate New York. After high school, he began his college studies and was still active in sports. Jon won the national JUCO championship at Lowa Central Community College, showing telltale signs of how good an athlete he was.

He fought Andre Gusmão at UFC 87 and won by unanimous decision having displayed takedowns and unorthodox strike patterns hitherto unseen in the sports. Jon fought the likes of Stephan Bonnar at UFC 94, Jake O’Brien at UFC 100, Brandon Vera at UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones, former IFL Light Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko who he defeated by TKO with elbows in 1:52 secs of the first round. He also trounced Ryan Bader at UFC 126 in a fight Ryan dominated in the first round but which saw him face his first professional defeat in the second round from a tap-out due to a guillotine choke from a furious Jon Jones.
Bones became the youngest UFC champion after defeating Maurício “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128 in round 3. He had his first title defence against at UFC 135 after recuperating from a hand injury. The fight ended in a victory for him and he has described it as his most favourite of all.

He successfully defended his title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165, UFC 172 where he fought Glover Teixeira and won by unanimous decision. Even when he fought at UFC 178, he still went past him, but little did he know that this fight would be the beginning of his woes.
A month prior to UFC 178, Jon Jones failed a drug test as he tested positive for cocaine. Come April 2015, precisely on the 28, Jon Jones was stripped of his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship title, delisted from the official ranking and suspended from the sports indefinitely in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico which had him leave an injured pregnant woman in one of the two cars involved in the accident. The witness was an off-duty cop who clearly identified the UFC fighter, documents found in the rented car also clearly had his name on them. Inside the car also was a wrap of marijuana. The once feared fighter was charged with a felony for injuring and abandoning the injured person on purpose. Around that time, he gave an for the events of that night and all that played out in his head; mainly fear of being charged by the police for driving drunk.
He made a comeback to the fighting sports at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017, where he won former Olympian to regain his once-treasured UFC Light Heavyweight Championship belt. But for a drug violation in testing positive for Turinabol; a banned substance by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), he was stripped once again of the title. If the charges against turn out to be true, he could face up to 4 years in suspension. This, of course, should mark the end of his career judging by his current age.
