Jordan Peterson – Bio
He was born Jordan Brent Peterson on June 12, 1962, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to his parents, Beverly and Walter Peterson. Going into the academia must have been a matter of heredity for the professor as his parents were also in the field. His mother was a librarian at the Grande Prairie Regional College and his father was also a teacher. From a young age, Jordan’s inclination to academics began to reflect as he explored the world of learning through various books, by authors like George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and many others.
He attended Fairview High School and graduated in 1979. Afterward, he proceeded to the Grande Prairie Regional College and majored in Political science and English literature. Jordan Peterson later moved to the University of Alberta where he would finish with a sound degree in political science. After college, Peterson wanted to understand the underlying factors behind some topical events that took place before his time.
This zeal of his caused him to travel to Europe to find out the psychological origins of European totalitarianism of the 20th century, as well as The Cold War. He wanted to know why human beings could let themselves become hateful and destructive to the extent of perpetuating wars and other dreadful acts. While at this, he decided to venture into the field of psychology; Peterson headed back to the University of Alberta to study psychology. By 1984 he had gotten a BA in the subject and then proceeded to McGill University in Montreal for his Ph.D.
Jordan Peterson got his Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1991 and worked as a post-doctoral researcher with Pihl and Maurice Dongier at McGill’s Douglas Hospital. In 1993, he started teaching at Havard University, as an associate professor in the psychology department. He also conducted lots of research while at the department. Peterson worked at Havard till 1998 when he moved back to the University of Toronto to assume duties as a full-time professor.
As a psychologist, Peterson focuses his interest on the psychology of religious and ideological belief. While at teaching, he also practices; the professor holds clinical sessions and proffers psychological assistance to people as well.

Amid his busy schedules, Professor Jordan Peterson never fails to carve out time for his family. He is married to his wife Tammy Peterson, a former massage therapist. The couple tied the knot in 1989 and have been together since then. Jordan and Tammy have a very unique love story that is worth sharing.
The long-term couple, as a matter of fact, grew up together in the same neighborhood. Peterson was still far away from his teens when he told his father he would marry Tammy when he grew up. Fate, fortunately, smiled on Jordan as he eventually ended up with his childhood crush. The couple has two children together; Julian, their son and their daughter, Mikhaila.
