Exceptional Cornerback player Jourdan Lewis is an American footballer in the National Football League (NFL) most notable for his good representation of the Dallas Cowboys. The former University of Michigan Sociology major is revered for his defensive ability which earned him the 2016 Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year award.
Biography
The star was named Jourdan Julian Lewis at birth on the 31st of August, 1995, in Detroit, Michigan, where he was raised by just his mother after his parents got divorced when he was 7 years of age. He attended Cass Technical High School where in his junior and senior year, he and future NFL player Delano Hill guided their school to back-to-back Michigan Division 1 State titles.
He went on to attend the University of Michigan on a football scholarship and was almost immediately a part of the team. In his freshman year, he earned first varsity letter having featured in a total of 13 games, recording 17 tackles and 2 pass breakups. After three games in his sophomore season, he was named as a starter and went on to play in a total of 12 games, recording 39 tackles, 28 solo tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 6 pass breakups.
Jourdan Lewis’ performance kept on improving throughout his college career as he managed 52 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 20 pass breakups as a junior. Despite missing the first three games of his senior season due to an injury, Lewis went ahead to set a school record of 20 pass breakups. He was subsequently named to the media and coaches’ All-Big Ten defensive first-team as well as the USA Today and Sports Illustrated First-Team All-American side.
For the 2016 season, Lewis recorded 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and 12 pass breakups as he was named the Tatum–Woodson Defensive Back of the Year. Again, he was named to the media and coaches’ All-Big Ten defensive first-team as well as the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Associated Press, Sporting News, and Sports Illustrated First-Team All-American sides.
After that season, Jourdan Lewis accepted an invitation to attend the 2017 Senior Bowl and then the NFL Combine where he participated in a majority of drills, excluding the short shuttle and three-cone drill. After all that showing, Lewis was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 92nd overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys. He signed a four-year contract worth $3.24 million which included a signing bonus of $753,428.
Jourdan Lewis’ Girlfriend
Jourdan Lewis is not currently in a relationship, or at least in any that we know of. He was most recently in a long-term relationship with Nicole Miller, his college girlfriend who twice accused him of assaulting her of which one led to domestic assault charges although he was found not guilty.
Reports have it that Lewis’ girlfriend dialed 911 after the player allegedly assaulted her following an argument that started over their finances. Miller told the court that she and her boyfriend shared an apartment but she was left to pay the bills as Lewis would spend his money on shoes and gadgets for himself and his family. She, however, said that Lewis eventually began contributing but still displayed carelessness with money, which put a strain on their relationship. On the day of the assault incident, Miller said she came back to their apartment just after midnight and met Lewis sleeping with the lights on. She woke him up and an argument ensued before Lewis threw a pillow at her.
She told the court that Lewis hit her three times with the pillow, pushed her against the wall and then to the ground before dragging her across the floor and grabbing her by the neck. Lewis himself told the court that he was trying to leave the apartment when his girlfriend fell to the floor and grabbed his legs in an attempt to stop him. He went on to say that he tried to free himself by grabbing her, possibly on the throat but with no intention of assaulting her.
