Club Career 

Manchester City Trippier joined Manchester City’s academy at the age of nine and worked his way through the ranks until receiving his first professional contract in 2007. During the 2007–08 season, he established himself as a regular in the reserve squad and was a member of the side that won the FA Youth Cup. In August 2009, he appeared in a high-profile friendly against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Barnsley: In February 2010, he signed a one-month loan with Championship team Barnsley. During his loan term, he made three appearances, including his debut in a 2–1 defeat to Middlesbrough. His loan was cut short after he suffered an injury at Scunthorpe United which kept him out for ten days.

Trippier agreed to stay at Barnsley for the duration of the 2010–11 season in January 2011. In a 3–3 draw with Leeds United, he scored his first senior goal for Barnsley. He went on to make 41 appearances across all competitions, winning Young Player of the Year.

Burnley-Trippier joined Championship team Burnley on a season-long loan in July 2011 to replace the departed Tyrone Mears. In September 2011, he scored his first goal for the club. He earned his first professional red card on January 2, 2012, after picking up two bookings in a 2–1 loss against Leeds United. A day later, Burnley signed Trippier to a three-and-a-half-year contract on a permanent basis for an unknown amount.

Tottenham Hotspur- After passing a medical, Trippier signed with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £3.5 million on June 19, 2015, becoming the club’s second signing of the summer. Under Mauricio Pochettino, Trippier was anticipated to compete with Kyle Walker at right-back, but he did not make his debut for Tottenham until after Christmas as he was eased into the lineup.

Despite rumors of a transfer to Southampton, Trippier stated that he is “very happy at the club” and is “not thinking of leaving.”

Trippier signed a new five-year deal with the club on June 30, 2017, committing to the club until 2022. Due to Walker’s departure to Manchester City in the summer, Trippier established himself as a regular in Tottenham’s starting lineup early in the 2017–18 season. Newcastle United- Trippier signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Premier League team Newcastle United on January 7, 2022, for a cost of £12 million with add-ons. On January 8, he made his FA Cup debut, losing 1–0 against Cambridge United. Trippier scored his first goal for Newcastle United on February 8th, a free kick in a 3–1 win over Everton at home.

International Career

Trippier was initially called up to the England under-18 team in November 2007 for a friendly against Ghana at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium. He made his debut in the 2–0 triumph, replacing Seth Nana Twumasi as a late substitution. A month later, England qualified for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, and Trippier was nominated for the 21-man team. He appeared in all three games as England was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Uruguay and Ghana and drawing 1–1 with Uzbekistan.

Trippier was called up to the senior team for the first time in May 2017 for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Scotland and the friendly match against France, where he made his debut in a 3–2 defeat on June 13. He was included in England’s 23-man team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Trippier was nominated to the 26-man team for the rescheduled UEFA Euro 2020 on June 1, 2021.
