Popularly as Killer Mike, Michael Santiago Render is a well-known rapper, actor and activist in the U.S. His first appearance was on OutKast’s 2000 LP Stankonia, Snappin’ and Trappin, and his second was on a single from OutKast’s greatest hits album and Grammy-winning song The Whole World.
He has since gone solo and released five full-length albums. His first album as a solo artist tilted Monster, was released in March 2003 and made it to No.10 on Billboard 200. Killer is also the founder of Grind Time Official Records.
Asides music, Killer Mike is a well-known activist who is concerned with social and political issues. He has handled issues on systemic racism, social inequality, police brutality, among others. He has been to Universities and colleges, delivering lectures on these areas of concern as well as writing articles for publications. Mike has also been in interviews discussing issues bordering on racism and police misconduct.

Brief Bio, Age
Killer was born in the Atlanta, Georgia neighbourhood of Adamsville on April 20, 1975, to a father who is a police officer and a mother who is a florist. His parents were both teens at the time of his birth, thus, he was taken to his grandparents in Collier Heights who also helped in raising him.
He attended Douglass High School, Atlanta. Shortly after his graduation in 1993, he attended Morehouse College briefly before dropping out in 1995. It was during his time at Morehouse that he met Big Boi of OutKast and The Beat Bullies, who would eventually help him out in his music career.
Career
His first appearance was on OutKast’s 2000 LP Stankonia, Snappin’ and Trappin, and his second was on a single from Outkast’s greatest hits album and the 2002 Grammy-winning song The Whole World. The song won Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. That same year, he made appearances on other tracks including “Poppin’ Tags”.
His debut album titled Monster came the following year and the album’s lead single “Akshon (Yeah!)” featured OutKast on guest vocals, while a remix of it included the soundtrack of EA Sports’ video game Madden NFL 2004.
The album’s second single titled “A.D.I.D.A.S.” took the #60 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit which featured Big Boi and Sleepy Brown remains his highest charting single as a lead artist till date. The following days, weeks and years got busier for the rapper, he appeared on OutKast’s “Flip Flop Rock” alongside he was also on Chamillionaire’s “Southern Takeover” which also featured Pastor Troy.
Killer Mike would later appear on Bone Crusher’s song “Never Scared” alongside T.I., the song peaked at No. 26 on the Hot 100, and became Mike’s second top 40 hit. The song also became the Madden NFL 2004 game soundtrack, Atlanta Braves also used it as the theme song for their 2003 season.
His second official album, I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind, came in 2006 and I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II followed suit in 2008, PL3DGE came in 2011, and R.A.P. Music dropped the following year, 2012.
In 2011, Cartoon Network executive Jason DeMarco introduced Killer Mike to rapper/producer El-P and soon, he (El-P) produced Killers’ R.A.P. Music album. With the success of the album, the two rappers decided to do a tour together and afterwards worked together as a duo with the brand name Run the Jewels.
In 2013, they (Run the Jewels) released a free eponymous album, the following year, they released their second free album and in 2015, they dropped a re-recorded version of Run the Jewels II titled Meow the Jewels, which was made entirely with cat sounds. Their third album as a duo came in December 2016.
Apart from music, Killer Mike is also into acting and has appeared in a couple of blockbuster movies like ATL, Idlewild and 20 Funerals. He played voice actor in the cartoon Frisky Dingo from 2006 to 2008, he was the voice of Taqu’il (the rapper/actor-turned-U.S. President).
As earlier mentioned, Mike is also a well known social activist who focuses on different subjects ranging from systemic racism to social equality, police brutality, and lots more.
