Regarding his family background, he was born to his father, Peter Trossard, and his mother, Linda Scheepers. His mother, Linda, operated a small cafe in Lanklaar, Belgium, selling light meals and drinks for customers. His father, Peter, belonged to the Belgian working class. He is the eldest child among two children born from his parents. The family has a stable financial condition and has loving relationships. When it comes to his career, he was a hyperactive kid in football. His parents understood his passion and used to take Trafford to every football match they could reach. Trossard moved from the Bocholt youth academy to the K.R.C. Genk young academy in 2010 when he was sixteen years old. In 2012, he was promoted to the senior squad, making his first, albeit brief, appearance in a league match against K.A.A. Gent on the 13th of May, 2012. Trossard was loaned out to Lommel United in January 2013. He scored seven goals in twelve league matches. Trossard was loaned to K.V.C. Westerlo in July 2013. He scored three goals in 17 league games. On the 3rd of August, 2013, he made his debut in a 2–2 home tie with A.F.C. Tubize. He also made his debut appearance for the club. Trossard was loaned out to Lommel United once more in July 2014. Trossard was loaned out again in July 2015 to OH Leuven.

Brighton agreed to sign Trossard on a four-year agreement on the 26th of June, 2019, making him the club’s second summer signing after Matt Clarke arrived from Portsmouth. Trossard has been a member of the Belgian national team on several occasions. Trossard was named in the Belgium squad for the first time in September 2018 but had to withdraw due to injury a month later. Trossard remained on the bench again in March 2019. He made his Nations League debut on the 5th of September, 2020, in a 2–0 away victory over Denmark, replacing Dries Mertens in the 80th minute. Trossard made his international debut on the 30th of March 2021, scoring his first goal for his country and adding a second in an 8–0, the thrashing of Belarus in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.

On the 17th of May, 2021, Trossard was nominated to Belgium’s 26-man Euro 2020 team, with the tournament taking place in the summer of 2021 due to the previous year’s postponement due to Coronavirus. On the 21st of June, he made his first appearance in Belgium’s last group encounter against Finland, with the team already qualified for the knockout stages. Trossard was a member of Belgium’s squad for the UEFA Nations League Finals in Italy in October 2021. He appeared on two occasions as a substitute, with Belgium losing to France in the semi-final and then to Italy in the third-place match to finish fourth.
