Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is a Formula One (F1) racing driver, born on January 7, 1985, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. He picked interest in motor racing at the young age of six when his father, Anthony Hamilton bought him a radio-controlled car. His passion for the sport grew from there resulting in his making his racing debut in the F1 in 2007 where he finished in the second position, just one point behind the champion, (Ferarri). The following season in 2008, at age 23, Lewis Hamilton won his first world championship title, becoming the youngest motor racing champion in the history of the competition.
He has since gone on to win three additional world titles – in 2014, 2015 and 2017. He won his latest three championships with his current team Mercedes Benz whom he joined for the 2013 racing season till present but his first championship in 2008 was won with McLaren.
It is said that when Hamilton was just ten years old, he attended the 1995 Autosport Awards ceremony with his father and he walked up to Ron Dennis, who was the then McLaren team manager and told him that he (Hamilton) will race for the McLaren team someday. He was later signed up to join McLaren’s Young Driver Support Program in 1998 and after showing so much promise while in the program, he was promoted to the F1 and was made an official McLaren motor racing driver in 2007, just as he had told Ron Dennis, twelve years before. That 2007 season also marked his debut season in F1. Today, the rest is history!
Lewis Hamilton’s Career
Lewis Hamilton started his motor racing career by driving karts in 1993 and by 1995, he won the British Karting Championship, the first of many championships he would go on to win in the course of his career. He was the British Karting Champion for three consecutive years (1995 – 1998). Next up for the conquering little genius was the Championship of the Future series, the Sky TV KartMasters, and Five Nations Championship (Cadet level) – all in 1996. In 1998, Hamilton made history by becoming the youngest driver to win the Continental and World Karting Championships at only fifteen years old.
Following these achievements, McLaren snapped him up into their young car racers training program, fast forward to 2007, at age 23, he was announced as their second driver in that season’s F1 championship alongside the legendary . Even though he went on to finish in the second place, his debut season was indeed an impressive one as he set records and matched other ones. He created a new record for the highest points recorded by a rookie, which he set at 109, most podiums for a rookie, which he set at 9 and then he matched a previous record for most wins by a rookie, which was 4. Of course, the next season, he finished a step better and won the world championship for the first time at the second time of asking.
Until his move to Mercedes AMG Petronas at the end of the 2012 season, Hamilton did not finish any lower than fourth place in the standings and two years after moving to Mercedes, he won the Drivers World Championship again, back to back (in 2014 and 2015). He would then lose out to his Mercedes teammate, Nico Rosberg in 2016 but he bounced back in 2017 to reclaim his title as World Champion making him a four-time world champion and joint-third in the winners’ list.

It is worth £100 million (over $139 million), plus earnings from his endorsements with Monster Energy Drinks, Puma, Bombardier Recreational Products, IWC, etc, which adds a further $8.3 million into his accounts every year. All these have booked his place among the richest sportsmen on earth. His current net worth is estimated to be well over $183 million.
Family – Brother, Mother, Father
Lewis Hamilton is considered “the first black driver in F1” because of his mixed heritage. His father Anthony Hamilton, born in the year 1969 was a contractor and also his son’s manager until 2010. He was of a black heritage – a black Briton from England – while his first wife, Hamilton’s mother who is also from England, is white. Her name is Carmen Larbalestier. She divorced Hamilton’s father, Anthony when the former was just two. Hamilton grew up with his mother and half-sisters from his mother’s second marriage – Nicola and Samantha Lockhart. His father also got married again to Linda Hamilton, who became his step-mother.
Lewis has a younger brother from his father’s marriage to his step-mother whose name is Nicolas Hamilton. He was born on March 28, 1992, with cerebral palsy. Nicolas is also a professional motor racing driver with British Touring Car Championship and uses a modified car.

Most recently in 2017, he has been rumored to be dating Sofia Richie, an 18-year-old model, and daughter of RnB legend, Lionel Richie. The relationship has not been confirmed or denied by either party.
