Bio (Wiki) And Age Of Matty Matheson
He was born on February 7, 1986, in Saint John, New Brunswick. His family later moved to Fort Erie, Ontario and eventually to Parkdale, Toronto, Canada where he grew up. When he was 19, he moved to Toronto, Canada in 2000. He is one of the four children, three boys (Stephen, Matty, and Adam) and a girl (Sarah) born to their parents; their father, an engineer named Stephen and mother, Joan, a waitress.
As a teen, Matty was known as a troublemaker although he was also a class clown and always popular. He was friends with everybody and a king of fun who knows how to take partying to the next level. However, his wild lifestyle always landed him in trouble that at one time in his grade 11, he was pepper-sprayed by the police.
Matty may have a natural aptitude for butchering meat and whipping up pâtés but he never considered being a chef as a career to venture into. Nevertheless, that became his ticket to fame. When he moved to Toronto in 2000, he enroled in Humber’s cooking program majorly because that was the only program in the city that accepted him. Therein, he discovered his natural abilities and started enjoying his studies that he was even earning good grades for the first time ever.
However, he was known as Toronto’s most irrepressible party monster who would gulp down whiskeys like water and do drugs. His inclinations to wild living took him out of college two weeks before graduation to tour Canada with a group of his friends who were in a metal band.
After his dropout from school, Matty got a job at Le Sélect Bistro where he learned how to make classic French dishes and eventually fell in love with cooking. He moved to another restaurant, La Palette in 2006 where the order was daily Kitchen Confidential (drinking, drugs, partying). Two years later, he moved to Oddfellows which opened in late summer 2008. There, all he need to do was cook good food and then party. What kept him in the business, nonetheless, was his good culinary skills and his magnetic persona which was drawing a crowd to the place.
Then Parts and Labour opened in 2010 and Matty was there, where he gained notoriety as much as his food did. His wild lifestyle, however, spiraled him down the road to a poor health condition that almost killed him. After one of his parties when he was 29, he woke up with a pain as if something was gripping his heart and wouldn’t stop. It was a heart attack. That became a point of decision for him. He left the hospital five days later and made a commitment to quit drinks and drugs.
You know how resolutions without dedication turn out. Three months into his healthy living, a drink shot him back to the death road. Following interventions by friends, he gave up his old habits and came out clean and have been since then. Although he was initially afraid he might lose his friends and his fervor, he only realized that he became more likable by being sober and doing his thing, cooking.
Years into his new life, he has had more responsibilities than he ever dreamed of. He oversees four restaurants, works on an international show with Vice, is writing a cookbook and parenting a son.
