Call him the NBA journeyman, the league’s class clown, the partier, the stoner, the troublemaker; Michael Beasley is everything. Castigated for being a wild child out of college, Michael has often been viewed as a classic prodigal son of the NBA. With his heart broken on numerous occasions and his career spiraling round and round, he is now trying to change perceptions of people about him by removing himself from the public eye.
Michael Beasley Bio, Age
He was named Michael Paul Beasley Jr. at birth and was born on the 9th of January 1989 in the Prince George’s County town of Cheverly, Maryland, USA. He is a renowned professional basketball player, playing as a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Michael had his high school education at the Notre Dame Prep, Massachusetts, before proceeding to Kansas State for his college education where he spent just one year.
Michael Beasley got to the NBA as a 19-year-old in Miami. There, he declared for the draft as a freshman only for his career to go on a downward spiral almost immediately. With an exposure to stardom and money at a relatively young age, Michael was unable to manage his career positively. He has been arrested twice on suspicion of marijuana possession; while a woman has once accused him of sexual assault.
However, Michael doesn’t care about how he’s perceived: to the NBA fans, he is the NBA journeyman; to players and coaches, he is a troublemaker; to the media, he is partier, a stoner, and the league’s class clown.
Michael’s playing career spans from 2008 to present and has represented a minimum of 11 teams within those years. His first official contract as a professional basketball player was with the NBA Draft by Miami Heat. And his career highlights and awards include but not limited to: CBA Foreign MVP (2016), NBA All-Rookie First Team (2009), Consensus first-team All-American (2008), USBWA National Freshman of the Year (2008), and Big 12 Player of the Year (2008).
He also represented the United States for FIBA U19 World Championship 2007 where he won a Silver medal and the FIBA Americas U18 Championship 2006 where he won the Gold medal. Michael was also one of the four finalists shortlisted for the Naismith Player of the Year Award in 2008. He also made it to the top 10 finalists slated for the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year award.
