When Trump selected Gorsuch as his choice for SCOTUS many aspects of his life including his religion came to light. The reason was mainly because Gorsuch, who was born and raised as a Roman Catholic had since changed faith to become a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church, a group of Christians considered to be liberals and whose views are anti-Trump. Thus, Gorsuch was perceived as a liberal in disguise. However, the sentiments were dismissed after admin officials encouraged that Gorsuch should be judged on his judicial opinions rather than the political ideology if his church/pastors.
