It is not in doubt that the experienced cyclist of the Bora–Hansgrohe team Peter Sagan will be captured in history as one of the legends of the cycling profession. The Slovak born cyclist is a three-time winner of the UCI World Championship. After winning the prestigious Maillot Vert points jersey at his debut Tour de France in 2012, he has been a formidable force to his opponents winning the jersey every year till 2016 when he lost to a rival.
The emerging professional started experimenting with the bicycle at the tender age of nine when he became part of a small local club in his hometown known as Cyklistický spolok Žilina. Peter Sagan would ride both road and mountain bikes during his junior years and was notable for his unusual style of riding in T-shirts and tennis shoes while sustaining himself with ordinary water. The young rider gained national recognition when he won the premier junior championship of his country and as a result of his achievement, he was recognized by the international community and, thus, his professional career took off with a lucrative contract.

Family: Brother, Parents
Peter Sagan is the youngest member of the Sagan family but in spite of that, sources have it that his parents Helen and Ľubomír Sagan did not have much time for the young Peter as they invested a bigger part of their time taking care of their small grocery shop which they opened in town. Consequently, Peter was nurtured by his elder sister, Danka who later collaborated with him to open a hair salon in town where he still cuts his hair till date.
The Slovak national also has an older brother named Jurai Sagan who is a notable professional cyclist and is also a part of Bora–Hansgrohe team. Peter is said to have gotten the inspiration to embark on his cycling career from his older brother when he was barely nine years old and in 2007, Peter clinched the Slovak Cup competition, riding a bicycle which he borrowed from his big sister, Danka.
The next year which was 2008, the rising star emerged the winner in the Junior World Championship’ for mountain bikes and later that same year, he was beaten to the first position in the Junior Paris-Roubaix’ and the Cyclocross Junior World Championships.

A scrutiny of the professional cyclists’ relationship status revealed that he has made a sole foray into the union of matrimony with his longtime girlfriend, Katarína Smolková. Their nuptials took place in Slovak on the 11th of November 2015. The couple lived in Monaco where they welcomed their first child, a handsome baby boy named Marlon on the 25th of October 2017.
Unfortunately, the couple’s marriage has hit the rocks because, on the 18th of July 2018, Peter Sagan announced that they have decided to separate and it is possible that an imminent divorce is in the offing.
Katarína Smolková when she was still a teenager, she took part in the Miss Universe beauty competition of Slovak Republic in 2007 without any modeling experience and made it to the top twelve. She has competence in fundraising and teaching, public speaking, event planning, customer service, and event management.
She is a fitness freak and a polyglot proficient in five languages namely; German, Czech, Slovak, English, and French. Katarina’s wealth of knowledge includes her working experience as an Optimization Project Coordinator at DHL IT Services Prague from 2010 – July 2011. She also put in some time as a Client Services Consultant with ANZ E*TRADE Australia.
