Not many players would survive going undrafted, and then having to play in two D and G-league teams, as well as three NBA teams all in three years and still, come out at the top of it all like Quinn Cook.
With his rather long walk to the NBA, it took him no time to make an impact by becoming an NBA champion as soon as he got the chance. He made it through the NBA Development League before he was finally signed by the Golden State Warriors and is today an important part of the team.
Quinn Cook Bio
The NBA star was born on March 23, 1993, in Washington DC. He was brought up alongside his sister Kelsey by his mother after he lost his father at the age of 14.
Regarding his education, Cook attended the DeMatha Catholic where he played basketball for the school team. However, after the death of his father which affected him greatly, his mother got him to transfer to a boarding school, Oak Hill Academy because of the support she felt he needed. While he was there, he studied and kept playing until he sustained an injury that would see him miss half of his senior season. Nonetheless, it did not get him to miss becoming a McDonald’s All-American. More so, MaxPreps named him a Second Team All-American.
From Oak Hill Academy, he had the option of picking Villanova, UCLA, and North Carolina, but he decided to go with Duke University where he played for the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team. However, the demon of the injury he had in high school would keep him from performing at his best.
Professional Career
In 2015, he decided he was going for the NBA Draft. Unfortunately for him, he went undrafted and that saw him joining the Oklahoma City Thunder to play in the Orlando Summer League as well as in the Las Vegas Summer League for the Cleveland Cavaliers who would later sign him. This would not stand as after only six preseason games, he got waived.
His next move was to the NBA Development League Canton Charge after he signed to play for the team as Cavaliers’ affiliate player. Although he made it to the 2016 NBA D-League All-Star Game after he got named in the East All-Star team and then the Rookie of the Year, he did not make it to the NBA as he would sign a contract with the New Orleans Pelicans only to be waived again.
Next, it was the Atlanta Hawks that would sign and waive him before he got to make the NBA when he was signed by the Golden State Warriors in 2017. There, he got his chance to play after suffered an injury. More so, for the first time, he got what was a stable basketball career after he signed a 2-year deal. To cap it all, he soon became an NBA champion with the team.
With the American Men’s basketball team, he played at the FIBA U16 World Championship in 2009. The team won the tournament in New Zealand. The next year, he played in the FIBA U17 World Championship ending up with the Gold Medal again.
His Dad, Mother, and Girlfriend
Beyond the struggles related to his career, the greatest struggle for Quinn Cook was the passage of his dad when he was 14 years old. Ted Cook died after suffering a heart attack and going into a comma. Years later, he would still remain very much in the heart of his son who always gives him credit for the man he has now become.
There is also his mother, Janet Cook, who is as well an important part of his story. After getting his contract with the Warriors, he decided to surprise her with a Range Rover for her sacrifices for him.
While there is hardly anything official about who he is dating, Daffini Evans is the woman that has been linked as the girlfriend of Quinn Cook.
Height, Weight, and Body Measurements
Like most other stars playing in the NBA, Cook is a man that has a good height and an athletic build. He stands at a height of 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) and has a body weight of 179 lb (81.2 kg). His general body measurements are hard to come by.
