Rajon Rondo Bio
Rajon Pierre Rondo was born in Louisville, Kentucky in the United States on February 22, 1986. He was born to black-American parents William Rondo and his wife Amber Rondo. He grew up along with his three siblings – Dymon, William, and Anton. Rondo experienced a very tough childhood; his father left home when he was just seven and his mother had to do multiple jobs just make ends meet. He had an interest in playing football but was deterred by his mother who convinced him to focus more on basketball instead.
During his high school basketball career at Louisville Eastern High School; Rondo was so good at his game that he had an average of 10.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 27.9 points per game. He was honored with the award of 7th Region Player of the Year and was named to the All-State team at the end of his junior year. Subsequently, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy, Virginia to complete his senior year. Over there at Oak Hill, Rondo averaged 3.0 rebounds, 12.0 assists, and 21.0 points per game. At the completion of his high school career, Rondo became Oak Hill’s all-time leader in assists with a total of 494 assists in 2004. He was also named to the McDonald’s All-American team; as well as Parade Magazine’s All-American Second-team.
Upon graduation, Rondo enrolled at the University of Kentucky where he continued with his college career. In his freshman year, the star led Kentucky in steals; thus having a single-season record of 87 steals. Generally, he had an average of 2.6 steals, 3.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 8.1 points per game that season. The following year, Rondo averaged 6.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 11.2 points per game in the 2005/06 season. Following his impressive performance, the lad was also named to the US Under-21 team that competed at the FIBA World Championships in 2005.
NBA Career
At the end of his sophomore year, Rajon Rondo declared for the NBA draft of 2006 while forgoing the remaining two seasons of his college career. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns during the first round of the draft. In the draft night, he was traded immediately to the Boston Celtics alongside Brian Grant in exchange for 2007 first round draft pick as well as cash considerations. He signed his rookie contract with the Celtics on July 4, 2005.
Rajon Rondo played eight and a half seasons for the Celtics from 2006 to 2014. He made his first professional appearance for the Celtics on November 1, 2006. Alongside , he led the Celtics to clinch the NBA Championship title in 2008. He was named NBA All-Star for four times starting from 2010 to 2013. He was selected to the NBA All-Defensive team twice in 2010 and 2011. Rondo also led the NBA in assists for two seasons (2012 and 2013). He got the All-NBA Third-team honors in 2012.
After his career with the Celtics ended in 2014; Rajon Rondo was traded alongside to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Brandan Wright, Jameer Helson, and Jae Crowder. He made his first appearances for the Mavericks on December 20, 2014; while scoring six points out of 11 shootings in their win against the San Antonio Spurs. After the 2014/15 season, he left the Mavericks and signed up with the Sacramento Kings with a one year deal worth $10 million. At the end of the season, he averaged 11.7 assists and 11.9 points per game.
In July 2016, Rondo joined the Chicago Bulls while penning down a two-year contract worth $28 million, he had a rather unimpressive season with the Bulls as he averaged 6.7 assists and 7.8 points per game in the 2016/17 season. After his one year stint with the Bulls, Rondo was waived on June 30, 2017. Afterward, he signed up with the New Orleans Pelicans on a one-year deal worth $3.3 million. During the 2017/18 season, Rondo averaged 8.2 assists and 8.3 points per game. In July 2018, he was acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers as he signed a one-year deal worth $9 million with the Lakers.

He is married to Ashley Bachelor and together they have two children – a daughter named Ryelle and a son Rajon Rondo Jr. Rondo and Ashley started their relationship while they were at the University of Kentucky. They welcomed their first bundle of joy Ryelle Rondo in 2008 and later a son, Rajon Jr. The amazing couple has been enjoying a blissful relationship for over a decade, however, it is not clear if they have made it down the aisle.
