Robert Downey Jr.’s height places him slightly below the average American male height, which is 5 feet 9 inches. The actor stands not so tall at 5 feet 8 inches and believe us when we say he still hasn’t heard the last of it.

According to Express, he recently fell victim to a practical joke on the set of The Avengers sequel when crew members mocked his short stature by replacing his full-size production chair with a miniature version. It was all fun and games though.

Downey was not offended at all he even tweeted the picture to his cast mates Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo with the caption, ‘Lights, camera, assemble!’ The fact that he does not mind the occasional jab at his height does not mean the actor does not use whatever means he can to stand a couple inches taller.

Prior to his appearance in Marvel’s Iron Man, Downey was not built like and action star at all, he was skinny and weighed 68 kg, nevertheless, he was in very good shape. Since 2008, when he first donned the red, metallic suit, the star has come a long way, He now has the muscle mass and the body fit for an action star.

How does he achieve this? The actor trained at least four days every week, with sessions lasting anywhere from 40 to 90 minutes. The timing varied for every session so the actor never knew what to expect. He also followed a very regimented diet according to Brad Bose, Ph.D., his personal trainer.

Here is Bose had to say, ‘Our goal was to get him as big as we could, but we also wanted to make sure he had some kind of six-pack, we really focused on the old-school heavy lifting. Military presses, dips, and bench presses. Keep him ripped but maintain the muscle mass.’
