The Twilight film series might have long ended but Robert Pattinson remains a relevant name in Hollywood. You know you are wielding enormous influence when Forbes ranks you among one of the most powerful 100 celebrities in the world before you are even 30. In the same year, 2010, TIME magazine named Robert Pattinson among the 100 most influential people in the world. Of course, much of that had to do with his stellar performance in Twilight. He also had a role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Biography
He was born Robert Thomas Pattinson, on May 13, 1986, in London, England to Robert and Clare Pattinson. His dad Robert Snr. owned a car-importing business while his mom Claire worked at a modelling agency. Robert was the youngest of three children and the only son.
Robert’s two elder sisters are Victoria and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Pattinson who is a musician. He attended the Tower House School. Ironically, as a child, Robert had a shy personality and had his father to thank for prodding him into the Barnes Theater Club, a renowned theatre program at the Harrodian School. The private school is located in Barnes, England. While at Harrodian, his first roles were in plays such Anything Goes, As Out Town and Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
His first foray into professional acting was starring in Ring of the Nibelungs. In May 2005, he was to appear in the UK premiere of The Woman Before at the Royal Court Theatre but was dumped at the last minute in favour of Tom Riley.
That same year, Rob met Mike Newell who later became the director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Robert auditioned and landed the role of Cedric Diggory, Harry Potter’s friend. This was the beginning of Roberts march into stardom.
If his role in Harry Potter was the beginning of his breakthrough, then his role of Edward Cullen in the film Twilight (2008) shot him into worldwide super-stardom.
The film was released on 21st November 2008 and in its first weekend, the box office receipts totalled nearly $70 million. On a personal note for Robert, the movie was more than him showcasing his impressive acting skills. He won admirers for his musical dexterity. An accomplished piano and guitar player, Robert composed and sang two of the movies soundtracks: “Never Think”, which he co-wrote with Sam Bradley, and “Let Me Sign”, that was written by Marcus Foster and Bobby Long.

In 2008, while the Twilight ovation was still at its loudest, he appeared in How to Be, a low-budget comedy-drama that earned mixed reviews from critics, but still drew more praise for his performance. That same year, Pattinson starred as Salvador Dalí in the film Little Ashes, a Spanish-British drama.
In 2009, Robert Pattinson was back with his Twilight cast for New Moon, as well as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and parts 1 and 2 of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. In 2014, Pattinson starred in David Michod’s The Rover, alongside Guy Pearce and Scoot McNairy. He played the role of a naïve member of the criminal gang. He also featured in Maps to the Stars, a movie that takes a comic look at the darker sides of Hollywood, he played the role of Jerome Fontana, a limo driver and struggling actor, who wants to be a successful screenwriter.
In 2015, Robert Pattinson starred in The Childhood of a Leader, alongside Bérénice Bejo and Stacy Martin. Robert played two different roles in the film, first as Charles Marker, a reporter in Germany during World War I and later as an adult version of the leader. He also appeared in 2016’s The Lost City of Z where he had to lose 35 pounds in weight and grow a beard to portray the character of a British explorer Corporal Henry Costin.

Anyone who has seen the Twilight series will attest to the fact that the chemistry between Robert Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart was really intense. The pair figured out a way to carry on the bond into real life though they kept the relationship secret for a long time.
