One of his most notable roles is as Dr Devon “Captain Awesome” Woodcomb on NBC’s action-comedy series Chuck (2007–12). McPartlin was also on the main cast of the one-season long TV series Sequestered (2014) among several other roles.

Ryan J. McPartlin was born on July 3, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois. His parents are Lois McPartlin (née Henricksen) and Stephen Emmett McPartlin. He has Irish, Norwegian and German ancestry. The actor was raised alongside his older brother Chris McPartlin.

He had his high school education at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. McPartlin got his college education at The University of Illinois where he majored in speech communication. As a student, McPartin was a member of the Illinois Fighting Illini football team. He played tight end for the football team and equally participated in the Big Ten Conference.

Upon graduation from college, Ryan McPartlin travelled to Australia and New Zealand. The vacation gave him an opportunity to consider the career options available to him. Barely one year after, the Chicago-born relocated to Southern California to launch his acting career.

Prior to his breakthrough in acting, McPartlin worked as a model to pay his bills. He modelled for the casual wear retail brand “Abercrombie & Fitch”. While working as a model, he also honed his acting skills by taking classes.

Ryan McPartlin made his acting debut on the CBS 90s sitcom The Nanny. He appeared on just one episode of the last season of the show. From 2001 to 2004, he played the recurring role of Hank Bennett in the popular daytime drama Passions. The actor also starred as Riley Martin in the short-lived sitcom Living with Fran (2005-2006). McPartlin auditioned twice for the titular role in 2006 Superman instalment Superman Returns. However, the role eventually went to Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh.

One of McPartlin’s most notable roles is that of Devon “Captain Awesome” Woodcomb in the action-comedy series Chuck (2007-12). Ironically, his audition for the role was deeply flawed due to the fact that he was really nervous. However, the casting directors were able to look beyond his mistake and offer him the role. The actor lived up to expectations and rendered a brilliant portrayal of the role throughout the 5-season run of the series.

Other than his modelling stint and career as an actor, Ryan McPartlin is also a certified personal trainer and fitness enthusiast. His clientele cuts across Hollywood celebs and other regular people. The actor is equally interested in scuba diving, tennis, snowboarding and racquetball.

Ryan McPartlin is married to actress Danielle Kirlin. Ryan and Danielle are said to have met way back in 1998. The couple eventually tied the knot on October 26, 2002.

Kirlin has a few acting roles to her credit. She appeared in the 2004 horror adventure film Centipede!. She equally appeared in the well-acclaimed drama series Felicity (1998).

Danielle Kirlin is indeed a woman of diverse talents. Other than her acting career, she is also a food entrepreneur. She is the founder of “Plate Therapy”, an LA-based food delivery service. She co-founded the company in 2015 in collaboration with her husband Ryan.

She had suffered a thyroid disorder in the past and through some major diet changes, she got healed. Therefore, she started Plate Therapy as a hobby for close friends and when her clientele began to grow, Danielle decided to go big.

Their marriage has been a sterling example of marital bliss, free of all forms of scandal. They have 2 children together; sons Wyatt Duke McPartlin and Dylan James McPartlin.
