Ryan Phillippe is an actor, producer, and director who became popular after he played Billy Douglas in the ABC’s series, One Life To Live. He has featured in a plethora of movies and TV series’ roles since then. He began acting in the early 1990s and has since been on the big screens.

The American actor was born Matthew Ryan Phillipe in New Castle, Delaware, U.S.A on September 10, 1974. He wasn’t exactly born with a silver spoon but he wasn’t from a poor background either. He was born by a nurse, Susan, who ran a day care center in Ryan’s family house and Richard Phillippe, a chemistry technician. Ryan has three sisters, Kirsten, Lindsay, and Katelyn. He is of mixed ethnicity, comprising of German, English, French, and Scottish.
Not much is known about his elementary and high school education, however, it is known that he attended New Castle Christian Academy in Wilmington, Delaware. Reports indicate that he had an interest in acting as a child. He also had an interest in martial arts and obtained a black belt in Taekwondo.

He began his career when he was signed under the agency, Cathy Parker Management, located at Voorhees, New Jersey. In most documentations about Ryan’s career, his first acting role under this agency was always referred to as Billy Douglas in the series One Life To Live. However, before Ryan played the role of Billy, he featured in The Secrets of Lake Success as Stew Atkins. Although this appears to be his first film, he is most popular for the role he played in the ABC series One Life To Live which aired from 1968 to 2013. He played the role of an openly gay teen on the series from April 1992 to May 1993.
In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles and continued the pursue his acting career. He took minor roles in the series Matlock, Due South and in the movies Crimson Tide and the 1996 movie, White Squall. In the next year, he starred in the horror movie, I Know What You Did Last Summer alongside fellow actresses, , and . The movie was critically acclaimed and recorded huge success, hence, contributing to Ryan’s increased popularity.
Ryan Phillippe has also starred in top-notch movies such as Cruel Intentions opposite his future ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon and 54. 54 was written and directed by Mark Christopher and it revolves around the life of a young man who moved from New Jersey to New York to become a barista at a club called Studio 54.
The 1990s were successful for the American actor and so were the 2000s. In 2000, he got a role in the crime drama series The Way of the Gun as Parker, one of its lead roles. The next year saw Ryan playing the role of Milo Hoffman, a software engineer who unravels the dirty secrets of a corrupt organization he works for in the super thriller film, Antitrust.
