Song Joong-ki began his acting career in 2008, Song made his acting debut in the 2008 period South Korean historical film A Frozen Flower. The movie was based on the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo who ruled in Korea during the 14th century which was directed by Yoo Ha. The film was a commercial success and won multiple awards. Acting is not Song Joong Ki’s only talent. After his first debut, he appeared in several series as the main cast in the couple-swapping segment “Believe in the Moment” of omnibus Five Senses of Eros and continued to take on small but notable roles in Triple and Will It Snow for Christmas. After doing several small roles, Song gained popularity in 2010 after he appeared in the historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal which was directed by Kim won-seok. The movie was based on ‘The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars’, a bestselling novel by Jung Eun-gwol. The movie revolved around a woman who had to disguise herself as her brother to earn a living, as during that time women were not allowed to work.

In This way, the song was growing and getting popular. In 2012, he appeared as Kang ma in The innocent Man. For his role, he won the first k-Drama Star Awards for the Top Excellence Award, Actor. From August 2013 to May 2015, he enlisted for his mandatory military service. Song made his small-screen comeback in Descendants of the Sun alongside actress Song Hye-Kyo, playing a military officer. The drama was incredibly popular in Korea with a peak viewership rating of 41.6% and in Asia, where it was viewed 2.5 billion times. For his role in the series, he won several awards including APAN Star Awards.

In 2017 he appeared as Park Moo-young in the movie “The Battleship Island”.Song made his small-screen comeback in the historical fantasy drama Arthdal Chronicles, in 2019. The drama was a reunion project with his Descendants of the Sun co-star Kim Ji won. In 2020, the song left blossom Entertainment, signed with History D&C, newly-launched talent management and content production company.

In the present year 2021, Song starred in the science fiction film Space Sweepers which was released exclusively on Netflix on February 5, 2021. And also he starred in the titular character in the series Vincenzo, which was released on February 20, 2021.
