Spencer Ware was born Spencer Raleigh Ware III and he plays for the Kansas City Chiefs as a running back in the NFL. He was born to his mother, Lakeisha Ware, on the 23rd of November 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Although Ware currently plays for the Chiefs, he was originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks at the 2013 NFL Draft as the 194th overall pick in the 6th round.

However, he attended Princeton High School, New Jersey and was a two-sport athlete all through in his time there (he was involved both in baseball and football), he was a dual-threat quarterback for the school’s football team and an outfielder for the baseball team. Ware was ranked as No. 19 overall football prospect in the country by Rivals.com upon graduation from high school.

He played in the 2010 United States Army All-American Bowl and also played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU) where he also played baseball. He played 21 games for the LSU Tigers baseball team before fully focusing his football career. He was given a nod in the second team All-SEC Selection after the 2011 season by the Southeastern Conference Coaches. In academics, he graduated with a degree in sports administration from LSU.

Football Career and Stats

After being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2013, Spencer Ware was released on August 20, 2014, and on December 31, 2014, he signed a future contract with the Kansas City Chief. He was, however, waived by the Chiefs on September 5, 2015, and was later re-signed to the practice squad. Spencer Ware’s first NFL touchdown was scored on November 1, 2015, a 4-yard run in the 4th quarter against the Detroit Lions for the NFL game which took place in London.

In 2016, Ware became a starter, after the injury and subsequent release of previous starter, Jamaal Charles. He started 14 games, rushed 921 yards and had three touchdowns. The next season was blighted by an injury to the knee despite the optimism of making the starting spot his own, and he was listed on the injury reserve.
