The American football star Sterling Shepard has been a prominent figure in the lineup of the New York Giants, courtesy of his wonderful catching skills. Sterling Shepard’s Bio
The talented wide receiver was born as Sterling Clay Shepard in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 10, 1993. He went to Heritage Hall High School where he began his football career. Playing as a wide receiver for his school team, Shepard notched 17 touchdowns, 73 receptions, and 1,243 receiving yards as a senior. He was named to the Under Armour All-American Game and was ranked a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, ESPN, and Scout.com. He also competed in other sports such as the long jump as well as basketball.
After he graduated from high school, Shepard enrolled at Oklahoma University where he played college football with the Oklahoma Sooners. In his freshman year in 2012, he featured in 13 games for his team recording three touchdowns, 45 receptions, and 641 receiving yards. During his sophomore year, he notched 7 touchdowns, 51 receptions, and 603 receiving yards. At the end of his college career in 2015, Shepard had 11 touchdowns, 86 receptions and 1,288 receiving yards.
Professional Career and Stats
Sterling Shepard was selected by the New York Giants during the NFL draft of 2016. He was the 40th player and the fifth wide receiver to be selected that year. He went on to sign a four-year contract of $5.94 million with the Giants which came with a signing bonus of $2.52 million.
In his first professional season for the Giants, Shepard became a starting wide receiver alongside . He finished his rookie season with a total of 8 touchdowns, 65 receptions and 683 receiving yards for the Giants. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team following his brilliant performances. During the 2017 season, he had two touchdowns, 59 receptions, and 731 receiving yards.

Sterling Shepard was born into an athletic family; he grew up along with his two siblings Shelby and Ashleigh Shepard. They were raised by Cheri Shepard and her husband Derrick Shepard. His father is a veteran American football wide receiver who played professionally in the National Football League. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins after the NFL draft of 1987. He also played for other NFL teams including New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys. Derrick completed his college career at Oklahoma University and he died of heart attack in 1999. Prior to his death, Derrick worked as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma University; as well as an assistant wide receivers coach for the University of Wyoming. Just like Sterling, his two uncles Woodie and Darrell also played college football at Oklahoma University.
While he is experiencing a blossoming career, Sterling also has an interesting and successful love life. He is happily married to the gorgeous American supermodel Iman Chanel Robinson. Iman is notable for her work as a Vogue and Victoria Secret’s Model. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Los Angeles, California.
