American professional baseball player Tanner Roark has made a name for himself in the Major League Baseball (MLB), he plays as a pitcher for the Washington Nationals. He made his major league debut with the team in 2013 and has remained there ever since.

Biography

The MLB pitcher was born Tanner B. Roark on October 5, 1986, in New Haven, Southern Illinois. While he was still pretty young, his parents moved to Wilmington after his father had secured a job there. He had started playing baseball from an early age when he was growing up with his brother, Dillon Roark and his elder sister, Samantha. One of the main things that influenced his love for the game is his father who has always loved the sports.

Roark attended the Wilmington High School and from there he moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Both in his high school days and his college days, he played the sports that he has always loved.

Career and Stats

As earlier stated, Tanner’s life as a baseball player in the MLB was what brought him to the limelight. Before making the big move, he was selected by the Texas Rangers after he got to make the Amateur Player Draft of 2008. He remained with the team until 2010 when he was traded to the Washington Nationals.

Roark began playing for the Nationals in the minor league and in 2013, the pitcher got promoted to the big league. Since then, he has remained with the team.

Beyond just the league, Tanner Roark also played for the United States baseball team at the World Baseball Classic in 2017. He was able to help the team win Gold with significant plays in both the semifinals against Japan and the finals against the Dominican Republic.

By the time he had played in 164 games, he had also started out in 124 of them, making one save. His career wins above replacement is 15.3, his wins are 58, his losses are 45 and he has the earned a run average of 3.42. More so, Roark has recorded 833.0 innings pitched, 651 strikeouts, and his walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) is 1.182.

Contract and Salary

Since the start of his career in the MBL in 2013, Roark has only remained with a single team and that is the Washington Nationals. Nonetheless, he has signed various contracts with the team. He signed a one year contract with the team in 2018 which was worth $6,475,000. Since it is a year’s contract, he is expected to take home a guaranteed salary of the same amount.

Prior to that, he also signed a one year contract with the team in 2017. The value of the contract was $4,315,000, which is his base salary as well. He has obviously come a good way considering that his salary in 2016 was $543,400, while in 2015 it was $529,600, and he was paid $506,100 in 2014.

Roark is not one who has a long history with women. In fact, he has not been linked to any woman publicly in the past except the woman whom he has ended up marrying, Amanda Botelho who is now referred to as Amanda Roark.

The two have come a long way, having been together since from college before they decided to become man and wife in 2013. Amanda Roark was born in 1989 in Lawton, Oklahoma as Amanda Patricia.

Before tying the knot with Tanner, Amanda had the couple’s first child, Madison in 2009. Two years down the line, they decided to get engaged and follow it two years later with the marriage. In July 2015, the Amanda and Tanner had their second child which was another daughter they named Kennedy Gary.
