Teddy had his first cry as a newborn on November 10, 1992. This first cry was heard in Liberty City, Miami, Florida by Teddy Bridgewater Sr. and Rose Murphy who are his parents. In his family, he has as his siblings, Harry Gathers, Andrea Bridgewater (brothers) and Nicole Gathers (sister) who are all older than him. However, following his fast pace of recovery with personal workouts, the Vikings decided to include him in their PUP list. He played the week 15 game against the Cincinnati Bengals during which spectators gave him a standing ovation as he walked into the field. In the game which ended in a 34-7 victory for the Vikings, he made an interception from two pass attempts.
