As the 20th of June 1989 dawned into a lovely Tuesday in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA, Terrelle Pryor Sr. was born in the “State of Independence” into a Black American family making him of Black American ethnicity and of American nationality.
He began school like every other kid did and as the time for high school approached, the lad was enrolled at Jeannette High School in Pennsylvania. Here, he played football and basketball actively as he led his team in the later to win their first WPIAL Championship after a 20-year drought of the trophy.
In addition to winning the Pennsylvania PIAA state basketball championship game as a senior, Terrelle led the school’s football team to win their first-ever Pennsylvania state championship in a decent 49-1 trumping of the Dunmore Bucks. For his remarkable talent and high school sporting accomplishments, Terrelle Pryor was named the MVP of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, two-time Pennsylvania Player of the Year, the Offensive Player of the Year, Parade All-America football and Parade National Player of the Year all in 2007. In 2008, he was named a fourth-team Parade All-American in the brown ball.
During his high school days and straight out of it, Terrelle had lots of sporting scholarships winking at him, he eventually committed himself to the University of Pittsburgh to play basketball. By his senior year, he made the “most anticipated” announcement on March 19, 2008, to attend Ohio State University where he would play football with the Buckeyes.
Terrelle began playing for his varsity in September 2008 through to 2011; precisely on June 7, 2011, when he withdrew from the college following by ESPN that he drove a Nissan 350Z on a license suspended by the State of Ohio. A later alleged that the wide receiver made thousands of dollars autographing memorabilia for a local booster. His attorney, however, denied these charges.
Following his withdrawal from college which was in tandem with the Buckeyes suspending him in all of the university’s athletic program, he became eligible for the NFL’s Supplemental Draft which saw him being drafted to the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the Supplemental Draft of 2011. He played for the Raiders from the 2011 American football season till the 2013 season when he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a seventh-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Terrelle Pryor played in the preseason games and was released on August 29 in the final roster cut. The former priceless two-sport athlete joined the Kansas City Chiefs signing a one year contract on January 7, 2015. By May 5, 2015, Terrelle was offloaded from the team. The Cincinnati Bengals brought him in on May 10, 2015, only to let him off 5 weeks later.
The Cleveland Browns became his next team where he played well from 2015 till 2017 after which he left for the Washington Redskins on a one-year contract. On March 25, 2018, he joined the New York Jets and still plays there currently.
