Nobody really likes a divorce, but the truth remains that it has become a reality in this time and age. While regular folks might get divorced and go about their lives in a simple and private manner, celebrities never get it that easy. Everything plays out under the limelight and that definitely can’t be fun. Until and Ben Affleck Split in June 2015, they were very much one of Hollywood’s most adored couples, but sadly this bliss wasn’t meant to last forever.
Prior to their marriage, as individuals, Jennifer Garner and have had a glamourous love lives, both dating some of the hottest celebrities in the game. Ben has dated and while Jennifer was previously married to actor and later dated actor Michael Vartan.
How Did Jennifer Garner And Ben Affleck Meet?
The actors first met in 2000 while working on the set of the movie Pearl Harbor. At that time, they were both in different relationships, Jennifer at the time was married to fellow actor, Scott Foley. It was on the set of the movie Daredevil that they developed a liking for each other even though both had serious relationships going on.
In May 2003, Jennifer Garner filed for divorce from Scott Foley and in January of 2004, Ben and Jennifer Lopez pulled the plug on their engagement. At this point, the coast was clear for Jennifer and Ben Affleck to act on feelings they knew they had for each other.
Ben and Jennifer were spotted together in public for the first time on the 23rd of October 2004 at a World Series game involving Ben’s favorite baseball team the Boston Red Sox. On April 17, 2005, Ben proposed to Jennifer Garner with a 4.5-carat ring after her 33rd birthday party.
Whilst everyone knew about the engagement and the public display of affection, the pair opted for an ultra-private wedding, one so private that even their parents and siblings weren’t invited.
The Real Reason Jennifer Garner And Ben Affleck Split
For many reasons, the Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck Split isn’t your regular divorce. It probably should go down in history as “How To Go About Divorce Responsibly”. It was very civil, amicable and cordial to the point that some tabloid source began insinuating they were going to get back together. But that was never on the cards.
On the 30th of June 30, 2015, the entertainment industry woke up to the surprise announcement that Jennifer and Ben were going their separate ways after 10 years of marriage. In the released statement, both parties maintained a commitment to co-parenting their three kids Violet, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel.
The announcement came three days after a leaked photograph revealed the couple’s nanny, Christine Ouzounian, on a private jet with Ben and , en-route to Las Vegas. The family had been vacationing in the Bahamas but Ben had to leave to catch up a charity poker event in Las Vegas. Jennifer fired Christine after she learned that she’d gone with Ben and Tom to Vegas instead of heading back to L.A. The fact that she wore Brady’s four prized championship rings made it all the more scandalous.
In separate interviews, both Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck debunked rumors that they split because of the incident with the nanny. Jennifer claimed they were already separated and working on an announcement way before the Nanny incident. She insisted their decision to end the relationship was based on irreconcilable differences that had nothing to do with the alleged infidelity with their nanny. Ben, on the other hand, has out-rightly denied having an affair with the former nanny.
In keeping with their commitment to co-parenting their kids, barely a month after announcing their separation, the entire family was off to the Bahamas with their children. Ben was photographed still wearing his wedding ring though Jennifer was not.

On the 13th of April 2017, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner finally filed for divorce putting to bed rumors that they’d iron things out and get back together again.
