Timothy Heller is an American singer-songwriter who is professionally known as just Timothy. Before going solo in 2017, Heller was a member of the indie-pop duo Dresses.
Biography
Heller was born in Portland, Oregon, on the 17th of August 1992. She has always been interested in music since her younger days, and as a way of harnessing her skills, she was a member of her high school band and musicals.
In 2013, when Heller was just 21, she, together with Jared Ryan Maldonado, formed a band called the indie-pop duo Dresses. The band released a studio album and two EPs. Sun Shy became one of their hit tracks, garnering over 13 million plays on Spotify alone, other singles also reached over a million plays.
The singles grew so popular that in 2013/2014, they became the opening act of some dates of Melanie Martinez’s Dollhouse Tour. Their song Catch also went on to be featured on American series Vampire Diaries.
However, in 2016, the duo went their separate ways to pursue their career individually as solo stars. In October 2017, Heller released her solo debut single titled Sleep. The official video for the single came four months later, it was released on February 23, 2018.
In March 2018, Timothy announced via her Instagram page that she will be collaborating with Hailey Wait.

1. She Suffered From Borderline Personality Disorder
Timothy Heller suffered from a mental disorder called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) – this is a mental illness that comes with symptoms like pervasive instability in moods, distaste of one’s self-image, insecurity and problems with interpersonal relationships. This disorder also often destabilizes a person, disrupting family and work life, and even messes up an individual’s sense of identity.
In an interview with Atwood, Heller opened up about her struggle with BPD while in the band Dresses. She said her experience with Dresses was a lot darker than anyone would imagine, pointing to her struggles with mental illness as well as an extremely unsupportive team around. She also spoke about how she was subjected to a lot of mental abuse but had to stick around because they needed her voice for the band. but when she couldn’t take it anymore, they had to part ways.
She reportedly got better after leaving the band and began to focus on her mental wellness.
2. Accused Her Best Friend Melanie Martinez Of Rape
It became a series of unfolding drama and social media battle after Heller, in a long Twitter post dated December 4, 2017, accused her one time best friend, Melanie Martinez, of sexually assaulting her.
She claimed the Voice contestant had repeatedly asked her for sex and that she had repeatedly declined until one night when she began touching her against her will, eventually overpowered her. She said Melanie had performed oral sex on her and also penetrated her using a sex toy without her consent.
Melanie Martinez, however, didn’t deny that they both had sex but denied the allegations that she sexually assaulted her former friend. According to her, Timothy never said no to what [they] chose to do together, so it was no assault.
3. Melanie Martinez’s Latest Song Piggyback Seems To Be Talking About Timothy Heller
Though some say it is a mere speculation but after listening to Melanie’s latest song piggyback, you might as well agree with the “speculations”.
In the song released December 2017, Melanie accused Heller of “lying” for fame, addressing the rape claims in the following lines: “You’re lying your way to try and gain a piece of me…; “Now you’re trying to kill my name for some fame.”

4. Her Debut Single Had Copyright Issues
Her debut single, Sleep, had issues of copyright and was taken down from her channel but was later restored after it was discovered that the copyright claim was false.
