What Happened to Tom Bergeron?
Tom made his decision to step down as the host of America’s Funniest Home Video AFHV at the end of next season known to his fans. The end of the current season of AFHV will mark the conclusion of its 25th cycle and his 15th with the series after he succeeded Bob Saget in 2001 as the host. Tom’s decision to leave AFHV did not come with a lot of drama, rather it was a personal decision that was long overdue. The Emmy Award winner exclusively told E! News that the 25th year of the show, coinciding with his 15th year as the host, posed a unique symmetry that he rather liked, and it seemed like the perfect time to hand over the baton to the next host – whoever that might turn out to be.
Tom Bergeron disclosed that even though he was leaving, he still maintains a good relationship with everybody on the show and his exit should have no bearing on his relationship with the gang since he hopes that they will continue working together. In fact, Todd Thicke, who is a co-executive producer on AFHV along with Tom had already pitched a live spinoff to ABC. Tom’s focus at the moment is on celebrating the 25th anniversary of the AFHV. Although there is nothing specifically planned for the moment, Tom would actually love to be the one to audition his potential replacement on the show, since according to him, AFHV has no special candidate mapped out for the position.
Of course, fans cannot help but ask where the award-winning host is going after leaving AFHV? The answer to that question is obvious, Tom is still the host of Dancing with the Stars which its 18th season will kick off very soon. Lovers of the reality dancing competition can be assured that Tom has no intention of deserting the series in the nearest future. According to him, he will host the series until the day they drag him out.
