The name of Walker Buehler will not be mentioned when it comes to veteran pitchers, but he will be there when talking about some of the best young pitchers at the moment and probably even pitchers for the future. Buehler plays in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He made the MLB Draft in 2015, but it was until 2016 that he made his Major League debut.
Walker Buehler’s Biography
The Dodgers pitcher was born on Walker Anthony Buehler on July 28, 1994, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was brought up alongside his siblings, Brady Buehler – who also played for baseball for the Valor Christian varsity baseball team before his graduation in 2018, Bella Walke, and Delaney Buehler.
Since he was a little child, Walker had always played baseball and when he went to the Henry Clay High School where he continued playing the sport. He was not just a good student, he was also a good athlete who recorded a 4.3 GPA and 30 on the ACT. By the time he was through, his high school retired his No. 12 jersey because of the kind of impact he has on the school’s team.
In 2012, he was drafted to the MLB by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but instead of signing, he decided to go to Vanderbilt University where he played and was part of the 2014 College World Series Championship team.
MLB Career
In 2015, Walker Buehler made the MLB draft where he was selected as the 24th overall pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Soon afterward, he signed a deal that saw him taking home a bonus of $1.78 million. Nonetheless, it was until 2016 that he would get to make start his career as a professional baseball player due to a ‘Tommy John’ surgery. On his return, he played for the Arizona League Dodgers in the Minor League.
In his debut game, the Dodgers 2015 No. 1 pick made a massive showing for himself and after he struck three of the batters he faced and then retired all six. He soon gained a promotion to play in the Midwest League for the Great Lake Loons. 2017 saw him playing in the California League for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, and then he was moved up to the Class AA Tulsa Drillers in the Texas League.
Finally, he was got a Triple-A promotion to play for the Oklahoma City Dodgers during the mid-seasons and at the end of the season, he became the minor league pitcher of the year of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was after this that he got the added to the Major league roster.
Walker made his Major League debut against the Colorado Rockies, making his first strikeout against Charlie Blackmon. Nonetheless, his first win would come Philadelphia Phillies. His first league start came in 2018 and he pitched five scoreless innings in the game against the Miami Marlins.
After just his Major League Start for the third time, Walker Buehler helped the Dodgers to a first combined no-hitter in the history of the team with six innings. While it was the 23rd no-hitter recorded by the team in its history, it was the first combined with Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia and Adam Liberatore who all recorded one each to make it a 4 – 0 win over the San Diego Padres.
More so, he would go on to achieve his first ever career MLB run batted in (RBI) against the Colorado Rockies in just 47 plate appearances in the NL Tie-breaker game.

Inasmuch as he is not one of those people with a lot about them in the public domain, it is known that his parents are Karen Walker and Tony Buehler. His stepmother is Lucy Buehler. According to some reports, his father was also a great athlete when he was at the athlete at Anderson High School in Cincinnati. That was as far back as the 1980s.
Among the people that have influenced and motivated him is his grandfather, Dave Walker (Papa). He was the one who taught him to throw with an over-the-top motion when he was still a child.
