Rob’s career started in the music industry. He founded the band – White Zombie with his then-girlfriend – Sean Yseult in 1985. Although they broke up in (1991) about 7 years later, they continued to sing together before they officially disbanded in 1998.
Their first and second albums weren’t much of a success until they signed with Geffen Records who released their third album in 1992 and it became their breakout album as it sold over 2 million copies in the United States alone. Their fourth studio album which was released in 1995 made it to the top ten on the Billboard 200 and also sold more than 2 million copies in the U.S.
In 1995, Rob directed the video for their single title “More Human than Human” and went ahead to direct all their band’s subsequent music videos. The next year, he collaborated with Alice Cooper for Songs in the Key of X: Music from and Inspired by the X-Files on the song titled “Hands of Death (Burn Baby Burn)”. The song got nominated for Best Metal Performance in the 39th Annual Grammy Awards.
Rob began his career as a solo artist with his first album in 1998. He collaborated with several artists and the album was a commercial success as it went ahead to sell over 3 million copies in the United States and remains his highest-selling album till date. With a heavy classic horror influence and quotes from Rob’s favorite horror films, most of the songs were later used in horror films and video games. It debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200.
In 1998, Rob began his record label named Zombie-A-Go-Go Records under which he released several successful albums for himself and various artists like ‘The Bomboras’, ‘Ghastly Ones’. He composed an original score for a video game – Twisted Metal III. He contributed the song “Scum of the Earth” to Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack and got a Grammy nomination for his song “Superbeast” in 2000.
Rob Zombie was a guest actor in a voice role for Justice League Unlimited and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.
As a writer, he began his Spookshow International comic book series in 2003. His second series titled The Nail was released in 2004 and had four issues. His third series – Bigfoot series was released in 2005 with four issues.

He did a remake of the classic horror film – Halloween in 2007 which remains his highest grossing film till date as it made $80.3 million against a budget of $15 million. Halloween II which was released in 2009 wasn’t as successful as its predecessor. It grossed $39.4 million against a budget of $15 million.
While Rob has made and directed some successful horror films, he has also had some movies that has been unsuccessful, even at the box office like The Lords of Salem (2012), 31 (2016) and the 3 From Hell (2019).
